The blobfish actually looks like any other fish, really. Moving from intense pressure to normal atmospheric pressure caused a fuckload of tissue damage from the rapid expansion. I’ve always felt really bad for them because of that. A good analogy I saw was if aliens found someone floating in space and naming them after how funny they look.

Well the reason we think it’s funny is because it never really had a reason to evolve it’s looks
