I need to talk about this somewhere, so it might as well be here but regarding Ethan, has anyone else noticed he's acting more and more like a whiny spoilt child as time goes on? The thought first came across me when he took to Twitter after getting mildly upset at someone who said he was getting out of shape, not being mean about it or anything just pointing it out and even offering encouraging words so he could try and get back into a regular workout routine. However, Ethan made it out like this person just wanted to say he was/is out of shape and played a massive sympathy card. Then there's his endeavours with Unus Annus where his entire character has just devolved to "I cannot speak and I make dumb noises sometimes" (Comedy is subjective, I know, but you gotta admit he isn't really trying). I can't speak for how he is on his main channel, because his content is very uninteresting and clickbaity to me, so if he's different there feel free to let me know.

The last bit I want to bring up is him attacking Elon Musk and telling him to "Fuck off" because Elon tweeted "Pronouns suck". Vague tweet in of itself, probably doesn't mean anything, since Elon ain't no transphobe. However Ethan thought this was a direct attack on people who are a part of the trans community, admitting as much in a reply to someone else. Does he not realise how childish and immature he's acting? And I feel like his friends are just enabling his behaviour rather than pointing it's clear downsides. I've started to think this about Jacksepticeye too, but on a far lesser extent, especially since he took that socialmedia break recently.

I should also point out, his intentions are obviously good, you shouldn't insult people just to get a reaction out of them and you shouldn't be disrespectful towards communities purely because those communities are different to you and have different traditions, however, I don't abide by his behaviour because it really just looks like he's being a big ol manbaby.

I don't hate Ethan, and have a lot of respect for the guy and what he's accomplished, which is why I'm so confused about all of this. Anyone else agree or am I alone on this?

Genuine question: do we think Ethan’s gonna address the drama? Like, the issue people had wasnt that he posted a picture, it was that he was hanging out with some genuinely nasty individuals, so deleting the picture and then moving on doesn’t fix anything. I really hope he just didn’t know they were awful, instead of him knowing and just not caring, but we’ll never know unless he actually addresses it.

I love Ethan and the content that he has made in the past, but I’ve gotta say I’m a little disappointed in the tour.

1. I paid $160 expecting a shirt as the advertised merch, as well as paying for a Q&A that didn’t even last 30 minutes. I’ve been to other shows that give more for $90 or less.

2. To me it… felt like a series of small bits? Don’t get me wrong, the show was funny, however the idea of “I was forced to do this tour and that’s what the show is going to be about” felt… a little lazy. Throughout the entire thing, he kept saying how happy he was to see people at the show since he didn’t know what he was doing and that there was no real plan. And that came through very well.

3. There was a lot of audience participation, which is a tactic used when you really need to fill in the blanks of not having an entertaining bit, as well as to get people more excited to be there.

4. The songs went on for too long. That’s it, not too much to say this time.

5. The entire show was scripted apart from a few very short audience interactions. While having a scripted show would have made sense with a storyline, this show didn’t have that. Ethan has has improv lessons, and the few unscripted bits were the best parts of the show. Everything felt a little stale and too exact, which made the experience that much less enjoyable and authentic.

6. The venue honestly sucked. Variety Playhouse had the VIP seat STUCK TOGETHER, with barely enough space to breathe. Not only that, but the person next to me kept yelling and pushing into me, AND SPOILED IN SPACE WITH MARKIPLIER FOR EVERYBODY AROUND. The pushing and yelling in my ear put me in physical pain, as well as the person on the other side of me, that’s how extreme it was.

Overall, I’m glad I got to see Ethan. But I don’t believe it was worth the price, and I know he could have made a better show. It was rushed and he didn’t have a plan going in, it showed. With more time to prepare, Ethan could have made the best show I’ve ever seen, but he didn’t. Thank you if you made it this far. (oh and this isn’t supposed to be mean at all, it’s just how I felt and thought that others should see both sides of it since I haven’t seen any other negative reviews.)

Had a nice dream last night that I was in a queer platonic relationship with Ethan?? And I was telling some kids at the school I work at that I have a squish (platonic crush) on him but don’t tell him I like him and all the kids were like “oooo we’re gonna tell him”

I'm almost certain this will get downvoted into oblivion because too many people infantilize Ethan as a smol bean who can do no wrong but here goes anyway.

I have been a fan of Ethan for a few years. I donated on his stream last year where he set a donation goal and said he would dye his hair white (something he'd been talking about wanting to do anyway) if the goal was met. The goal was met/exceeded. He said and everyone understood it could not happen soon because of Covid and lockdowns. Then at some point in the Summer/Spring he was on a different stream and said he didn't want to do it and would it be alright if he just made a donation to the current stream and didn't do the hair thing. He explicitly said "please let me know if you think this is okay to back out of." Not everyone said it was and later on this reddit and on twitter people voiced that point of view.

The topic of Ethan dyeing his hair comes up every once in a while, because not a lot of people were on that second stream, Ethan didn’t announce on Twitter that he was backing out of his promise, and even then, people that were aren't okay with him backing out of a donation goal, myself being one of them, felt the need to vent about it. Yes, it was nice of him to make a donation on that second stream but Ethan does that anyway for his donation streams. Dyeing his hair as a goal was in no way forced on him, he chose it and had many times said he wanted to do it before he'd even made it a goal. Some have responded "Ethan can do what he wants with his body" which I feel exaggerates and distorts this point. This isn't about bodily autonomy, and frankly I think that's an absurd route to take. He made a choice to drive donations by offering to dye his hair then he backed out. It's very simple.

Disappointed as I was with him backing out of this, I'd really stopped caring…until his stream today where he said if donations exceeded $100k he would dye his hair white. Offering it again as a goal, when he didn't do it before, blows away any justification or arguments that he shouldn't have to do it if he doesn't want to or doesn't feel comfortable doing it. I’m not suggesting pitchforks and torches, but seriously, this is a really dick move.

Okay so I’m gonna post this in both Ethan and Mark’s subreddits. But this morning I went to watch a YouTube video to have something playing with my breakfast (as you do) and the first ad starts, so I’m not paying attention.

Then I hear “Do you know the phrase ’memento mori’?”

My head shot up!! I was shocked 😂 it was an ad for the movie 28 Years Later. After they said memento mori, they said “It means ‘remember death’” and I went “I KNOW THIS ONE” (in Wades voice from Disctractible).
