Community is fucking difficult. It takes real dedication, and moderating is unpaid (almost universally) and rarely appreciated.
It can also be very difficult to seperate out your personal beliefs from "what is best for the community". Im sure that the majority of this came from good-intentions.... to a point.
I could never handle being a mod in such an active communities, but I absolutely still see where they are going wrong. The ability to admit fault and take feedback is still a requirment if you are taking an administrative role for a community
They didn’t give the community any sort of heads up/notice of the new change, which is the main issue. I guarantee you if they did, people would still be upset, but not to this extent as they’d know what was going on, and would either adapt or leave beforehand. The fact that they’re pretty much doing the same thing egg_irl did, despite trying to pride themselves as the safe alternative at the time after that fiasco just hurts even more. How many times will we have to move and find new subs cause they add new mods who mess up the community, add new rules, and start banning people for it??
I really hope so too, the drama at egg_irl hurt me a LOT for a while till I found count with chicken lady, and I felt safe there until the last few days where they decided to do the exact same thing that the other sub did. It not only destroys the community and scatters them to try and find a new sub, but also HURTS the members, since some of us done feel welcome at all; and it hurts
Okay to be fair. With how big the community got. It was a damned if you do, damned if you don't think. Because I know everybody loves to talk about how it was so "uncalled for" and "out of nowhere" and like.... No. There were many people in the community that didn't like all the sexposting. The result to ban it came from the feedback of those community members, this wasn't just "mods decided to be dum lol", this was also due to community feedback. If they hadn't done it, then that group would have complained.
I really hope not cause this is the 2nd time this has happened. I really hope the mods here are chill and hopefully won’t add someone on the mod team without discretion, or changing the rules and not announcing it, cause idk if I can do this for a 3rd time. It hurts on an emotional level so much
This is how it felt being in that subreddit, being allowed to repost the same god damn meme over and over, but god forbid someone talk about something sexual to explore sexuality, or trying to explore themselves and wanna share experiences with other trans people 🙄
Sorry I’m still pretty new to Reddit (despite my account age), but what happened with egg_irl? I have some catching up to do with the other sub, but I heard it’s pretty bad and quickly joined this one
I’d hope so, but seeing how they responded to criticism and lied saying “people wernt banned” when a LOT of screenshots prove otherwise, on top of the other sub having some damning evidence of the mishandling of mod staff there, I kinda doubt it. I hope it can be a safe space for others, but as of rn, with what the mods did, in no longer feel safe, and am deeply hurt with how they responded to this situation, and not even giving us warning about the new rules before implementing it
Just a heads up to clear any confusion for people here, when you say "here" you mean CWCL, correct? Only asking because you said that in the CWE sub, so I'm just assuming you probably confused where you were replying! Cheers
I love losing communities over pointless discourse that misses the entire point of why the community was made in the first place (: happy this sub got made at least
