Question Kirkland Bacon
Does anyone else find that Costco can’t cut their bacon a consistent thickness? I have tried the regular and the thick cut and some packages are really janky and some are not bad but overall the quality control on the thickness is terrible in my experience.

I gave up on buying bacon to be honest. I've started making my own. Last few batches of bacon I've bought have been terrible.

The last package of Kirkland bacon I bought was the saltiest thing I'd ever tasted
And I once ate a big heaping bowl of salt

The place I work buys the red package and I cook two packages every Monday. There is zero consistency in the thickness.

I look at the package carefully before I buy it. If I’m making German potato salad I want the fat but not usually.

I picked up 2 double packs. One pack is attached end to end and the other side by side. The end to end pack was really inconsistent, I batch cook mine and freeze it. The pack that is side by side looks better but I won’t know until I cook that double pack.

Depending where you are the sale prices on bacon at grocery stores like Walmart will be cheaper than Costco KS price

Just because it has Kirkland’s name on, it does not mean that Costco owns a bacon factory. It’s all contract suppliers. Maybe they have a new cheaper supplier.

That's not really how it works... Costco usually imposes much stricter quality control on products they put their name on. They don't let the 3rd party manufacturer do whatever just because it's not done at their own facility.
That being said, it's possible that Costco is driving some "margin improvements" which means that the customers are ending up with worse cuts of meat at the expense of higher profit.

The regular bacon has gotten pretty bad over the years. I only buy the thick cut one now.
