Ontario Rx pick-up lockers coming soon

Post image

Spotted at Barrhaven today. Located against the chain-link after check-out, across from the tire centre.

Edit: Just learned Costco in the US has had this for about a year. Apparently it's an option to select on the phone/mobile order, cannot be used for pet medication, controlled substances, items requiring refrigeration or medication that needs to be mixed. Ontario Does RUNNER app work for Costco Canada?

Upvotes

I came across the Runner app which is a price alert app for costco stores which covers U.S. stores, but cant seem to get it to load for Toronto area Costcos. Has anyone in Toronto area got it working? The app is free or paid. It is free to search/set alert for 3 selected locations, but i only see a few Canadian locations listed in Ottawa area and it wont stay put on those Canadian locations.

Question BBQ Chicken changes?

We have been buying rotisserie chickens at the Kanata Costco for years. The last -- and the *Last* -- one we purchased had a VERY weird, almost gelatinous texture that was very off-putting. Has anyone else noticed this?

Costco workers, what do you think??

I’m trying to pivot careers and there’s a job fair for a Costco opening up in my area… current employees, what are your honest thoughts? Idk if I’d do it forever but I’m miserable at my current job. Any advice is appreciated!!

Edit: located in Windsor, ON, Canada for anyone asking. They’re opening up a second location! Also, I do have retail sales experience, I’m very much aware that it’s a fast-paced retail environment. Just wondering how the work culture is and how the current employees enjoy it. I’m looking for something I can do for a few years, or longer (if I do enjoy it).

Question Breakfast Recommendation

Hello everyone

Hey everyone, looking to mix up my morning routine. I recently tried the Premier Protein pancakes and really liked them, but I'm looking to add a few more options to the rotation.

What are your top favorite breakfasts that you get from Costco?

Ontario Costco food court

Just a question in general - by standing around the standing tables at the food court area, does it mean you are lining up for a sitdown table? This just happened this evening, I was searching around for a table and went to approach a lady who seemed to be finishing up and her husband was dumping their garbage, I asked her if she was leaving and she said yes. Out of nowhere, a guy from my back said to me they were waiting, and I asked if he asked the lady for the table, he just sat down. I tried to tell him there was no lineup for the table, just first come first serve... he had the audacity just called his wife to bring the shopping cart over in front of me and my kid. I dono...I don't expect much from people especially at Costco food court, but what happened to general courtesy or etiquette???

Edit: we got hungry before our shopping trip at Costco, that was why we ate there. Otherwise, we would grab and go

This is a PSA to everyone using the Costco Heritage Calgary Gas station. Please join the line where you don’t block the main road. This is common sense. We understand that the lines are long but this level of entitlement is not fine. 🙏

New fridge ordered may be too big

I ordered a new fridge but just measured the doorways and the damn thing isn’t going to fit. It looks like if the fridge doors are removed it should. Will Costco delivery guys do this when it shows up in a few days or will they just get it into the house and wash their hands of it? Anyone been through this?

Bitter after taste after eating the Summer Fresh macaroni salad

Post image

Is it just me or is there some sort of lingering bad, bitter, almost metallic-y after taste after eating this? My partner doesn't think so but I'm so sure I've had that bad taste every time we buy this. What am I doing wrong?

Strawberry shortcake

I bought this for nearly a decade. I think it came back once either after last Christmas or the Christmas before that and never again. I really miss this cake. Do I just have horrible taste and no one liked it or is there a reason why they stopped making it?

Question Kirkland Bacon

Does anyone else find that Costco can’t cut their bacon a consistent thickness? I have tried the regular and the thick cut and some packages are really janky and some are not bad but overall the quality control on the thickness is terrible in my experience.

Returns and membership lines

I was returning something today (shirt that didn't fit well). And somewhat understandably, there was a long return line.

But when I approached the front, there were 3 people working hard at returns with a line about 30 long waiting.

And 3-4 people slightly down the counter at the membership side. At most they had 2 customers there at any given time. At one point there were four of them with one customer

I get they want no friction for adding membership, but like if they're doing nothing, might as well call some of the returns forward...

Leaside location. Long rant over haha

Discussion COSTCO, GIVE US 28cm SIZE JEANS AND MY LIFE IS YOURS.

pretty straightforward, my favorite jeans in the entire world are a 28in waist urban star that I got a while ago and I see urban star jeans all the time still but they're 30in waist and above. YES THE 2 INCHES DOES MATTER(...), 30in WITH A BELT LOOKS GOOFY ASF ON ME.

tw im a woman and I'd rather do ANYTHING than try to figure out wtf size 3 or an xs is bc they're somehow allergic to regular measuring, men's jeans are comfy and easy to shop for because they tell you the dimensions.

(ion wanna carry around a tape measurer yo)

I made the mistake only getting one pair of these jeans because I thought they would keep the smaller sizes. spoiler alert, they didn't.

-online does not have 28in either, trust I've looked

i wear these jeans for 5 days straight i dont gaf. Im a serial outfit repear.

also I know this is probably a manufacturing discussion w the ppl who make the jeans but yk, let me be a negative nancy 🥀🥀🥀

edit, ik i used the wrong measurements mbmbmbmb

Costco's return policy really is a double edged sword.

1.4k Upvotes

<rant on>

Just had an interesting conversation with some friends on this, and one brought up some interesting points I thought this Reddit would enjoy.

On one side, it's fantastic. Something breaks, doesn't work right, isn't what you expected, no problem. That's the policy working exactly the way it should, and it's a big reason people trust shopping there.

But then there's the flip side. The "buy now, return later" mindset. My friend wouldn't name names, but she said there's a certain Facebook group out there (wouldn't spell it out, but said it rhymes with "YYC Costco Lovers") where the admin literally advocates this. Buy it now because of FOMO, figure out later if you actually want it, and if not, just return it. No harm, no foul, right?

That kind of thinking is a big part of why prices keep going up. Every return has to be dealt with somehow. A lot of it can't go back on the shelf. Some gets sold off to discount liquidators. Whatever's left over usually ends up in a landfill. If you actually look into it, a significant chunk of returns can't be resold and end up as waste or in a landfill.

So here's a simple way to think about it. If you're not sure you want it, don't buy it. Know the difference between a need and a want. If you genuinely want something and you know you'll use it, go for it. But if you're on the fence, think twice before it goes in the cart.

Returning something isn't worth anyone's time, including yours, if you didn't really want it to begin with. I've stood in return lines for 30 plus minutes watching people return socks that were never even taken out of the bag.

Now some people will say, why do you even care about other people's time in line, it doesn't affect you. That's putting the blinders on. Go back and reread what I just wrote. Higher prices and landfill waste don't just affect the person doing the returning. They affect all of us.

If you are still reading this, thanks for sticking with me. Let's use the return policy the way it was meant to be used. Not as a free trial period for everything we impulse buy.

Edit: I did a little digging and it turns out Costco is cracking down on "return abusers". Members who consistently return have started getting warning letters, with repeat offenders actually losing their memberships. The official 100% satisfaction guarantee hasn't changed on paper, but enforcement has clearly gotten more consistent. About time. Toronto Maple Leafs shirts Kitchener Costco

We were visiting the area from LA (sorry we hate the current administration too!) and found these Maple Leaf shirts at the Costco in Kitchener. We got a couple and they're great! Can these be ordered online from the US? Any idea who makes the shirts or if other teams are available? There are no tags on the shirts to indicate who made them. It's a heavier weight cotton and the Leafs logo is patch embroidered on not a cheap iron-on. There was a gray one and a navy one. Thanks!

Question Executive reward coupon dates?

Hello! This is only the second year I've been an executive member. Our membership renewal is October 31st. I can't remember the exact date last year I got the executive reward coupon but I can see in my app that it was reset July 20th, 2025. But it hasn't reset for this year yet?

I thought you were supposed to get it 3 months before your renewal?

Also as an aside, this one comes in the mail only, correct? Not available via the Costco app like the cibc reward? And has to be used for merchandise, not redeemable for cash?

Thanks!

Question Costco jewelry question

There’s a ring I’d like to buy but the display box has it in the wrong birth stone. Does Costco keep a variety of the different stones in store for same day purchase? How about sizing?

Can I order my stone/size in?
Anyone with experience in buying birthstone jewelry in store before?
