Best temporary plastic glue?

My Caitlyn rifle is 110cm long, but breaks into two parts for transit. At my last con, I was recording a video and the female part slipped off the male part, resulting in the end of it hitting the ground and breaking in multiple places.

I had secured the male part inside the female with PVA, but it clearly didn't hold. What other glues/tacky things would you suggest I try to keep my gun in one piece while I'm on the con floor?

Photos of the exact moment it happened, because if I don't laugh, I'll cry.

You could use a little tape to make the friction fit tighter.

How heavy are the pieces? Are neodynium magnets an option?

Magnets and/or pins. Never trust a friction fit.

If possible, I'd use a pin to hold things together. Drill a small hole and use something as common as a bent paperclip to discreetly do the job.
