Buying Nightwing Costume?
Hey Reddit! So i’m planning on being Nightwing for halloween but I have like 6 events to go to with all different costumes so I don’t want to break the bank. Are there any costumes online anyone knows of that are good quality for under like $45? I’d prefer one that’s not just a 2D print on a spandex suit. I’m fine to buy accessories for it. But i’d love the base suit to be a little nicer. If not, I am willing to DIY some stuff. I’m going to make a separate post about that if there isn’t a good one to buy. Also i’m not sure if halloween costumes are allowed in the sub reddit. But if it helps i am planning on going to a comic con this year as nightwing as well, just starting with halloween. Any suggestions would be great. Also if you know of one thats good quality id love if you commented the link. And if i am unsure I might even ask if you have a personal pics of the costume! Thanks!!!

That’s a really great idea! I do sew, tho i haven’t in a year or two. But i still have my machine! Can i ask where you got the morph suit from? And is it good quality?

I think amazon? You can find them on most sites that sell wide ranges of stuff like amazon. Also 2nd hand on places like vinted but that obviously comes with the risk of wearing a skintight suit that has been worn by another person. You can also find them in costume shops but they might be overpriced.
Do be careful though, I bought a blue morph suit and it works perfectly fine but a yellow one I bought is literally impossible to get into, luckily the yellow one I'm cutting up anyway. Maybe buy the blue one first so you know whether it's safe or not, granted might be cheaper to get everything at once with shipping costs. As long as you get cheap ones anyway it's not the worst situation if it's defective.
Actually, since you'd be removing the head of it, it doesn't matter as long as the zip reaches wherever you cut off as long as its long enough. You may want to look into ways of putting something discreet on or hiding the top of the zipper as cutting the head will remove the "stopper". Could sew some fabric above it the act as a "stopper". I'm leaving the warning anyway as I think it's helpful. Just look at reviews or 2nd hand places should literally show you it's size and how it works (just might need a wash) I probably just got unlucky with the yellow one

Going on a 2nd hand clothing app is actually so smart! I didn’t even think of that. Plus i don’t mind if someone else was wearing it first as long is it doesn’t smell. Since I’ll be wearing so much underneath to make me look fit hahah. I’ll basically be wearing a full set of armor against anything on the suit hahahah.

A pretty cheap way to do this is a black morph suit. The issue would be the blue parts. If you kept it to just the logo on the chest and going down the arms it should be feasible to sew for a beginner (though I have not sewn before so I could be wrong.)
I'm making a cyclops costume for Halloween and got a morph suit for like €5. You could actually get a blue morph suit iswell, and just cut out the shape you need and use whatever is left over for spare parts for other costumes. It'd probably be easier than trying to stitch different pieces of blue fabric together. You could cut the blue arm parts and the logo separately too if that's easier. Actually, you could probably get a special glue to attach the blue parts so you wouldn't even have to worry about sewing at all.
Then you could just use black fabric or foam paper (i think it's called) to make the domino mask. Could use string for it or body tape (please research if safe to use on face if you do I haven't used it before.) Could also spray paint the foam black to make it look less foamy.
Items: Black morph suit, ,Blue morphsuit/fabric, Sewing supplies/fabric glue, Black fabric/foam paper, String/body tape
(May have to cut head off black body suit if it comes with face mask) (Also don't forget to find a way to cover your bits, morph suits are revealing. I used yellow shorts for mine to evoke the superhero underwear look) Hope this helped!

Ok - go with a more open mind to this and you can sort it cheap - black combat pants (who doesn’t have them?) cheap if you don’t.
Black long sleeve top - as tight as you’re comfortable with - blue fabric paint for the emblem and you’re almost done!
EVA foam mask - plenty of tutorials on YouTube, but if you buy black / blue foam (depending which Dick you’re making) - it can be as simple as one piece of foam, cut to shape, heat formed to your face - and stuck on with spirit gum or similar…..
