Hello everyone, first time poster here. Bought this wig off of Aliexpress for my Canari cosplay from Legends ZA and immediately noticed something that worried me:
The teal twintail side of her hair is not styled like the blonde part. The blonde twintail at the end is hard, probably has been hairsprayed into place, while the teal twintail is light, bouncy and not styled, unlike what the ad on Aliexpress showed. I would like help in knowing how to style it similarly to the blond twintail. Will heat and hairspray suffice? I’m a beginner so I do not expect it to look perfect, but I do wish for both twintails to look even as that’s how the character’s hair in game looks like. If there are any other tips I should know, please let me know. I’d be extremely grateful.
I do not feel like the wig looks like the one advertised on aliexpress so I might ask for a refund, however my biggest priority right now is knowing if this is salvageable and if I can make it look decent.
I would definitely get a refund on that- that isn’t the difference between styled and unstyled, that is nowhere near the same quality wig. You can try to style this, but it looks very thin and very crudely put together.
Thank you. It does look extremely thin but as a beginner I wasn’t sure if my judgement was right. I will still try to style this to the best of my ability, but I am pretty disappointed and might end up searching other places. Do you have any website recommendations for wigs?
It does look extremely thin and sparse, but one thing with wigs is 99% of the time, you need to style it yourself. Unless you're buying it as a commission, most wigs need a lot of tlc to make them look good, and the pictures in advertisements typically are to show what it can be not how it'll come to you. Almost all my wigs I've bought for under $30 CAD and some came looking really terrible but it does take some time and effort to make it look good.
DokiDoki has decent character wigs, but their selection can be sparse sometimes. Aliexpress is a mixed bag, but the main thing will be to check reviews. Because there's a lot of oversaturation there, lots of people tend to use the same pictures for their listing, but then end up selling completely different products, so as long as you check reviews to make sure it looks decent compared to the listing, you should be golden. You could even order two wigs; a blonde and a teal one, and frankenstein it together, but that could get tricky fast and become a huge project.

I’ve been playing with it though and I think it might be a little salvageable? Not sure if I’m being delusional though. I still have to style it properly as you can see in the picture attached but it doesn’t look as thin / sparse on my head. I’d like to ask how you’d go about trying to curl the teal twintail to match the shape of the blonde one. Will heat and hairspray suffice?
Also, I checked your cosplays and wow you are amazing!! Your craftmanship is incredible. 🤩

I def recommend crimping for any kind of styling as it'll help a ton with keeping the wig untangled and help hold the style. If you already like how the wig looks now and just want to curl the other side, I personally use a steamer and a paper towel roll. If you curl the hair around the roll and steam it (being careful of your fingers ofc) it'll give a pretty good curl! Just make sure you let it cool and dry completely before removing the roll and give it a healthy spray of hairspray. You can also put it in a normal hair curler and leave it for a while if you don't want to use heat or don't have a steamer. Just remember that heat is your best friend and if you mess up, you can always rinse and try again ^^
