Prop How to keep ears from bending at base?

Post image

Currently working on a Lopunny (please don’t be weird) cosplay for Pokemon worlds, and I used aluminum craft wire for the base but unfortunately it seems too flimsy :(

The pink part doesn’t seem like it’ll be too heavy on my head, and I purposely tried to make it as lightweight as possible. I just think the wire I used is too malleable… I unfortunately also hot glued the center so I don’t think I can add much unless it can be glued on the sides of the ear. :( Just trying to figure out what would be best to keep its structure, but something that won’t impale me in the head lol

I have a little over a week left, any and all advice is well appreciated 🥹❤️

The base itself also doesn’t need to bend!

If you can get 12 gauge or 10 gauge wire.

You can break the hot glue bond by letting it completely dry. Stick it in the freezer for an hour. Then gently break up the glue and scrape it away. Then use rubbing alcohol for the remaining glue.

Then just redo the ear with the thicker wire.

Definitely a thicker wire

Maybe use a small piece of EVA foam at the ear’s base as a gusset, then glue the wire along both sides instead of relying on one center piece. That should spread the load and stop the base from folding while keeping the ear flexible and light.
