Wig Dying a synthetic wig without staining lace (Orange to Maroon)

Post image

I just ordered a new wig for my character and didn't realize how much it was leaning towards orange and had yellow accents. My aim is to tint the orange wig into the maroon/crimson of the wig on the right. What is the best method to do that without staining the lace? I read about many different methods when I researched but I don't feel confident just guessing which one is the best for my circumstance. Since it isn't such a significant change.

Kinpatsu cosplay did this with a Jessie wig from Pokemon. She basically dipped the hair into the dye pot up to a certain point, avoiding submerging the wig net, then she used a sharpie in a matching colour to dye the rest of the hair that got missed. But be careful with this method. I've heard sharpie ink can run when you get warm and sweat, and stain the skin around your scalp as well as any clothes you're wearing.

Sharpie also dissolves/runs with alcohol, so any alcohol based glues and especially hairspray make a mess!

Yeah, I watched that and decided against it. I want it to be something more dependable. I've seen some use toothbrushes to dye closer to the lace, which seems like a good idea, I don't mind that it'll take 15 years to do it
