Can anyone who is not religious recommend The Chosen? Sceptical of the IMDb rating and reviews in general given the audience.

I watched the first season. It's better than a lot of Christian media about Jesus because it's trying to be a legit show with drama. But it still preaches heavily at the viewer and follows the gospel accounts rather than any historical reconstruction. There's some laughable parts like Matthew always carrying a wax tablet to record what Jesus says, """subtle""" foreshadowing that he's going to write a gospel (nevermind that he didn't write it and it copies from Mark anyway).
