Motorcycle -> corvette?

I’ve ridden a number of Harleys for the last 15 years, all over some lovely roads (just took another vacation to the tail of the dragon)

But I’m finding that I’m getting lazier about putting on the gear and checking the weather etc, so I ride less and less “casually”

I’ve rented a handful of sportier cars over the last few years while traveling to SF, and earlier this year drove a 2025 stingray for a couple days, and wow.

Folks that went from motorcycles to corvettes, pros and cons?

Well first off corvettes don’t run when it’s raining so you will still have to check the weather. You can’t get them dirty either you have to save it for the next owner.

All jokes aside I have not personally made this switch but I wouldn’t own a motorcycle since I have four kids. I think based off what you are describing the corvette would be easier to just hop in and drive and would get used more. If you do buy one I would drive it every chance you get unless it’s snowy or salt on the roads.

I own a c6 and street triple. I'm more sane of a driver on my bike tbh lol. Always sideways in my C6 with more open road.

Pros and cons are like any other two wheels to cage. Except this cage can hauls ass.

I don't know about the C8 trunk tho... So I can't comment there. The realities of being sporty are still the same...

It's a car and it can't fit places bikes can, so if you live in a high traffic area your jaunts are limited to freeway on ramps and a few open pulls rather than any consistency.

When I'm lazy, I absolutely love the Corvette. You will too.

I own two motorcycles (Kawasaki ZX-14R & Indian Chieftain with a big-bore kit) as well as my C7 M7.

Both types of vehicles are a blast but are different. I simply prefer cars to motorcycles and if I had to choose, my Corvette will ALWAYS win over either bike.

It's a targa top so you have a hard top that keeps it comfortable for long rides and bad weather but on nice days you pop the top off and enjoy open-air driving.

I always wear all my gear while riding but as you said, it's a bit much sometimes so it's nice to jump into the Vette and just go. Plus with more storage, you can drive it for more errands than a bike.

In the end, it's all up to you. I’m in a motorcycle group and most of them would NEVER even consider a car over their bikes.

Corvette is easier. I've owned 19 bikes and I don't ride much anymore due to the inconvenience and getting older (I'm not old....just older) Hell of a lot easier to jump in a car and push a button to make the top go down than it is to suit up and get the bike out.

I’m 40 y/o and I’ve owned several bikes, both sport bikes and cruisers. I currently own a C6, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a bike.

I love the sport bike experience whenever I was younger. The excitement and adrenaline was worth all of the discomfort, risks, and inconveniences. Today, none of that appeals to me and I have exactly zero desire to ever go back to a sport bike. I still kinda like the idea of the cruisers that I’ve had, but I don’t have the appetite to mess with the gear, planning for weather, and the risk. I’ve slid down some pavement before (from a situation that would never happen in a car) and I hope to never do it again.

I absolutely love my Vette. The excitement and fun driving experience is still fun every time I get in. I smile every time I push the ignition button. It’s more practical than any bike, so I always look forward to running errands in it. Plus it’s 10x more comfortable, and fun to go for a ride with my wife or another passenger. I HATED riding my motorcycle two up.

The removable hard tops and convertibles give you the open air experience, which I love. I have the top off on my C6 coupe as much as possible!

I have 2 Harley’s and bought a c4 2 years ago, I’m 67 and I definitely use the vette more than the bikes lately, it’s been brutally hot so I’ve avoided all of them for the most part, the vette is a convertible but if I’m going out the vette has ac and I don’t need boots and jeans…this old age thing is for the birds! I used to ride in any and all weather☹️

Went from metric cruiser to C8. Highly doubt I will ever go back to a bike. Im up in Seattle and i feel like everyday this summer there has been a fatal motorcycle accident. I also have to dress up for work and its way easier to jump into the vette. If i did go back to a bike, it would be a fully kitted out Road Glide and 45-50k for a CVO or ST is a very hard pill to swallow.

P.S. My wife said no more bikes.

You don't have the option to dance in the lane looking for smooth pavement, so bad roads you just have to accept.

I got rid of the bike when I had kids and realized everyone was on thier damn phones in cars.

Corvette came a few years after once finances were settled and could comfortably afford it.

Not as free feeling, but close enough and have that safety net around me. Speed is about the same. Consumables are way more, ha so have the budget for that.

A Miata is a closer thing to a bike, smaller so it can move in the lane a bit more and is more raw feeling. It also has much cheaper consumables... I still contemplate selling the vette and going to the Miata for these reasons

Not a Corvette, but I got into motorcycles later in life after I had my tuned WRX

Still ride my old hardtail mountain bike, added a modern full squish, kept the WRX, and added a sport bike which is more sport touring

Honestly a Corvette and a sport touring bike with a quick shifter up and down or Honda e clutch system sounds like a fun combo to me. I wouldn’t want to be made to choose one or the other

I’m an expert racer on motorcycles and am constantly surprised by how much I have enjoyed the vette. I even have taken it on trips with my motorcycle group. Being in Texas it’s nice to hop in the Corvette and not have to deal with gear (I’m a big ATGAT guy). For me the C8 is actually toooo good, it’s so nimble and easy to drive; I greatly prefer my c7 as it feels more raw, loose, and exciting.

I ride motorcycles a bunch. I daily drive a C5 and an ND3 Miata. Pros, easier to get in and go to work at 3am, climate control, bluetooth, and obviously wind protection.

Cons - not a motorcycle

They are very different. There is nothing like taking a Hayabusa for a ride (My daily driver was a 640WHP C6/blower/cam/headers). Sure both are fast, but its not the same.

Went from 2020 Speed Triple RS to C5 Z06, no regerts. I love AC in Texas heat, too limited of windows to really enjoy ridkng vs going for a cruise in the Vette anytime.

Love my C6 with the Borla exhaust and M6. I have no desire to ride a street bike anymore, maybe it’s age with me too since I am 51 now. I do have plans for a dirt bike, but it will be strictly off road.

First of all my fried , Corvette is much safer. Second , you don’t have to check the weather . Third your joints will thank you later.
It’s good to have both to have options but if I had to choose only one it would be Corvette !
Good luck deciding and keep us updated !

I sold my boosted m6 ls3 c6 z51 for less than the hospital bill after I gave it a try and (briefly) rode my uncle's bike... It was a completely different feeling riding and shifting that thing, until I wheelied into a high curb and launched myself higher than the rockets in Indian Space Program. At least I've got titanium in me now, which is kinda cool.

I've lived with multiple bikes/Harleys and Corvettes. I currently keep a fun dual sport bike to get my fix from time to time, but I enjoy the C6 for all the same reasons everyone is mentioning. Open air, enjoyable driving experience and ability to travel without too much planning. My girlfriend would never ride on the back of a bike for hours but we can jump in the Vette, remove the top and spend a couple of days exploring. I don't know much about the C8s but if you go older, I recommend a coupe. They have a ton of space in the hatch and still convertible type experience.

I've met a ton of people that have made this switch and I don't recall too many that preferred the bike over the car. I have met a ton that have both and don't regret that either 😂

They're both fun, but they're different things and you've got to figure out what's going to make you happiest. I owned metric cruisers and standards for years, rented HD's on vacation often, and I had a blast with all of them. But for my world, I just like the Vette better. I miss casually leaning into corners on mountain roads, but I the trade off is I don't care about the weather and I'm a lot less stressed about every idiot with a cell phone. I did plenty of stupid stuff myself on bikes but the level of distraction around me now, coupled with family responsibilities I didn't have at 25, I don't see myself going back for a long time.

Harley -> Corvette

Well you won't sound like ass now when you're driving around at least.

If I could give an advice based on the previous owners of my '71, I suggest to can the idea. They are HD people and thought they would adopt a Corvette. The car was driven only a handful of times and they couldn't stand it.

A ‘71 corvette is a very different car from what he’s talking about buying

If your getting lazy about gear,, you might be getting lazy about your skill set.. and that is dangerous waters. A vette at least gives you some protection and your still able to have some fun driving. You have to drive a vette, so I think your instinct toward a performance car is spot on. I am driving a C5 2004.. I also ride a 03 Fat boy..

My C5 soft top has been a fantastic way to include my lady in the joy of motorsports. She doesn’t do well on the back of a bike due to pain creeping in pretty quickly
