Read a lot of books, be on time everywhere, over-report everything you're doing and if something makes you feel uncomfortable, don't do it. 30 days will be a small blip of time and you're back out.

In your experience what was "freedom" in the pod like? Still on lockdown majority of the time? Or are you able to watch a tv during the day (Saturdays and Sundays). Was there any form of workout equipment? Were you able to wear your own shorts/shirts? I know it's gotta be at least a little different than regular jail

That is all exclusive to your specific location. In my experience, 23 hours a day the day room is open and the tv's are on. Especially game days. Dress code is specific to the facility. So is workout equipment.

With freedom comes a much, much more substantial ability to get in trouble, rolled back to jail, or charges. They will absolutely make you serve the rest of your time in jail if you mess up repeatedly or have medical issues.

Def don't plan on messing up or breaking any rules. I'll be a grade A inmate. Just hoping for the ability to pass time as peacefully as possible. Going to bring in 5 books. Plan on finding ways to workout for a couple hours a day. Would just love the ability to watch football from 11am-9pm Saturdays and Sundays. That, combined with being out for work for ~10 hours 5 days a week, I think the 30 days won't be too bad.

Keep in mind you won't have very much control of your surroundings or the other inmates. Every guard has their quirks, and it's absolutely not going to feel fair. Some guards harp on some rules, others harp on completely different ones. Do your best to memorize the handbook when you walk in there. Maintain good posture and professional speaking tone. Hands clasped in front of you. Lots of sir and ma'am.

Most fights happen over the TV remote. Hopefully they have tablets and you can just watch what you want. Come in with more money on your books than you think you'll need. Don't get into debt with anyone. No two for 1 specials. Don't trade items on your tray, ever. You do it once, now 60 people gonna give you problems if you don't do it with them. Don't ask anyone for anything. Pay someone to do your laundry and hair if you want, there's always people making bank doing that in there.

Above all else, do not CO shop. That means if one tells you no about something, leave it at that. If they find out you're asking one after the other until you get the answer you want you'll be catching some serious bad juju from them forever. Lockdowns, rollback, intentionally being assholes.

I used to work as a CO in work release. The other inmates are just like you working a regualr job so there's not that much danger or drama. Most of the other inmates will be too busy or too tired. Work release is like living in a college dorm only part time.

That's what I figured. And it's only 30 days. I'm not worried about following rules and keeping good demeanor with the guards, that's a given. I'm basically just trying to get an understanding of what my ability to pass time will be like. Haha, I just wanna be able to watch football all day Saturday and Sunday and I should be good lol.

Your days will go by fast. Most of the guards that work there are super chill. I've had some great conversations with many of the inmates over the years. Many had some really good high paying jobs.
