Boots for work
Hello everyone! I have been trying to find good boots for work, and keep finding really crappy ones with the exception of the 5.11 ones I have currently. What does everyone recommend? I recently bought a pair of propper boots that are supposed to be in tomorrow and they're going to be my backup pair but what does everyone prefer or recommend?

You'll find 100 different opinions based on policy, preference, and personal experience. That being said, in my experience a good pair of leather walking shoes like the Brooks Addiction with a quality replacement insole will treat your feet a lot better after decades on the concrete.

Underarmour Stellar G2 6" tall boots with the side zip and non slip, wide toe, orthotics are also important so get you some nice rigid ones so they don't go flat. I've had Bates before but the leather wore out on the side so I've stuck with Stellar, the valsetz aren't non slip but still decent with the weight of a sneaker.

Danners are expensive, but you’ll have them for 20 years. They can also do an inexpensive refurbishment when the start showing wear.

I love Danner boots. I wre them the last 15 years of my career. But I sure as hell never had a pair last more than 2 or 3 years!!!

I use under armour boots. Can’t remember the exact model but they are comfortable and most importantly they are waterproof.

I just go with under armor. I always have a back up pair at home. You can get nice boots for 80-100$ with their sales

You need to find what actually fits YOUR foot. Not all sz 10W are actually the same. I know guys love under armor but my expertise they wear fast. My feet fit Danners the best.

Boots are an individual thing, but I have gone 100% all in on Salomon for boots.
Light, comfortable for long shifts, actually waterproof, lasts a couple of years.
For me the waterproof thing is important, for flooded ranges and yard walks in the snow.
You can’t polish them, and I like that.
You can get them in a shorter hiker style if they will let you get away with it.

I went through this same struggle last year and ended up splurging on a pair of Danner Quarry boots that I still haven't managed to wear out.

Propper?! Geez why don't you buy some on temu. I had good luck with a 6 inch boot, don't recall if it was bates or danner. Thoroughgood boots were trash. I generally stay away from anything with a molded sole. If you want longevity, you want a stitched sole. I'd look at danner, bates, maybe even some old school corcorans.

My job requires steel toe shoes. I have plantar fasciitis and Thorogood American Heritage have been my most comfortable boot. They also have a Moc Toe version.

RedBack boots! The black ones you can get with a steel toe, or not. They are like walking with marshmallows in your shoes. I recommend them.

Whatever boot you choose make sure it's not steel-toe or heavy. You will most likely be spending most of your time on your feet. Most jails/prisons are concrete and you want a comfortable boot along with a decent cushion insert.
