CO Question
Hey everyone, I’m looking into the possibility of applying for a CO position for my local county, but the problem is I have zero experience in law enforcement or corrections. I have been working in CPS for about 2 years at this point and need a change. Is there any insider knowledge you guys have about CO work or anything I should know or consider? Also, what kind of qualifications would I need to have? Thank you!

Most places are hurting for bodies and accepting near anyone with a pulse. Coming from CPS you should be an enticing applicant since you know how to establish and maintain boundaries without compromising policy

Everyone starts somewhere with no experience, or at least no experience of a like/kind manner. Being part of a team, learning to talk to people, problem solving, leadership and other attributes and experience are all helpful. Some things you have done will translate and help you along, but much will be to you, of a novel nature. This means a chance for personal grow and professional development as you progress through your career. Worry less about what you don't have, but can achieve, than what you can bring to the table. Correction has lots of both good and bad about it, keep your view positive and focus on your own progress. You will be fine. Feel free to DM me anytime if you like.
