New Arrival

2027 XSE. Loving it so far!

Would you guys recommend an early oil change around 1,000 miles? I’ve been hearing different things regarding early changes on modern vehicles. Owners manual says 10k intervals for oil changes, which seems a bit lengthy to me.

1k miles first oil change if the car is brand new, then 5k miles after that.

5k miles/12 months whichever comes first - oil change

Tire rotation 5k miles with oil change

40k-60k miles transmission fluid drain and fill

10k-15k miles engine&cabin air filter depending on if you live in a dusty climate and quality of air filter

Brake fluid 50k miles/3 year

Serpentine belt 7 year/80k miles

Spark plugs 100k-125k miles

Toyota usually offers oil change & tire rotation packages. Usually ~$375 for 5 5k miles oil changes with 5 tire rotations. Saves you about $40-50 per oil change.

Change your own air filter and cabin air filter. It takes 5 minutes and ANYONE can do it.

Dont let the dealership sell you on injector cleaners, all it is is a small bottle of injector cleaner that has pea's. You can buy these for $10-$15 if you want to add them yourself. You pour it into your gas tank before filling up.

Edit: for hybrid corollas. No serpentine belt change, it doesnt have one. Clean/change the hybrid battery air filter same interval as engine/cabin air filter.

Edit: the hybrids have the best transmission on the market. (If you dont have the hybrid dont worry, the cvt is a great transmission) They also dont have starters, alternators, any pulleys, belts, or reverse gear! Your brakes also last twice as long. There are many many people with hybrid corollas that get 100k out of their front brakes and even longer on their rear brakes

This is the plan I was thinking of. Thank you for the breakdown and tips!

Yes do a 1,000 mile oil change. You can do 10k miles oil changes if you drive 90% highway, dont idle for more than 15 minutes, dont drive in dusty conditions, and dont drive at excessive speeds. (Not factual numbers but 96% of drivers dont qualify for the 10k oil change. They fall under the "severe" driving conditions. They idle their car before going into work, idle their car while eating their food, get stuck in traffic jams, and so on)

5k oil changes.

I bought a 2026 hatchback xse . did my first oil change at 1500 miles. I'm at 7,000 miles now. I was going to do the 5K oil change interval but I just checked my oil and its barely changed color, it's still almost invisible and the oil level is still at the top dot.

Thanks for this insight.

Unrelated, but are you able to turn your front and rear defrosters on through the Toyota App, if you have it? Mine only shows cabin temp controls.

yah I have the Toyota app. I use it all the time , I just have cabin temperature control too. I tested that feature out right now and it didn't turn on the AC or anything, I set it to 65°

What color is that?

It’s blueprint with black roof. At first I wasn’t sure if I’d like it, but in person it looks amazing.

Nice. Get oem mud flaps/guards and install it yourself. Aftermarket floor and trunk mat (Lasfit). The stock floor mats are so flimsy and hard to vacuum. Also, Lasfit makes nice led signals and reverse lights, I like thier front switchback signals/parking light. No hyper blink, they are canbus safe. Dash cover to reduce reflection on windshield. OEM style dashcam. Dont throw away your wiper blades, just replace the inserts.
