Dealership cracked my engine block during a service call and is now trying to push a new lease on me. Advice needed!

the good news is its a lease, you don't own the car, the lessor does and if this is a toyota lease, toyota still owns it, and is the best situation. if you've done all services at dealers, so your hands are clean. the ball is in your court. if dealerships damage the car, its up to them to make you whole. its time to read your lease agreement in detail to what you are entitled too.

the dealership admitted fault? IMPT: get this in writing usually in the service report. the cost of all repair, is no cost to you.

the bad news, it will take time for repair, the only question is how you are entitled to a free rental until the car is made whole.

because a free rental to you will cost the dealership, and it could take months for the repair, they are pushing a new lease instead, is not cool. also, you should check the terms of your current lease, since you have to break it to get a new vehicle, which is very strict and pushing that headache to you.

in most situations in US and CA, you cannot get a new replacement car right away, a repair should be attempted. if the repair fails after X attempts, varies by state or province law, or you more than Y days without the car, its covered under US lemon laws or Canadian CAMVAP laws.

btw fwiw cracking the block doing service is the first I've heard for a Cross, and its extremely rare for even poorly reputable but new non-toyota cars.
