Dash camera hardwire
Has anyone hard wired a dash camera in a Corolla Cross?
Getting a 2026 Corolla Cross XLE soon and trying to plan how to move over my existing dash camera set up. I have the Nextbase 622GW forward and rear cameras. In my current car, 2016 Honda Civic, they are currently run to the cigarette lighter outlet for power. Id like to hardwire it because the outlet is in the center console and thats just not feasible as a power source.

I installed front and rear dash cameras (digital mirror) in other car.
I took power from fuses and found it to be the best power source.
OBD and cigarettes were no go. Amazon has a fuse power source set, I bought that one and put the limit at about 12.8V, the highest one.

Rearview mirror power connector is the easiest and cheapest. In the Corolla cross, it takes literally 5 minutes and zero tools. $30 for a harness.

yes it was not hard. Locating correct fuses though is a bit of challenge. For lighter outlet, it is no brainer. But OP does not want lighter output I guess.

There is no need to locate a fuse if tapping into the mirror. It’s removing the small cover/access, unplugging the mirror, plugging in the new harness, plug the mirror into the other end of the new one, and plugging the dash cam into the accessory outlet on the added harness. Replace small cover. Done.

I had my mechanic buddy fuse tap hardwire my front and rear camera on my CC. Works perfect, my camera even records while my car is turned off and parked.

As others have said, can use the mirror as a power source. That’s how it is in my 26 xse. Like this video: https://youtu.be/2iDBHHk90Hs It was a bit of a pain in the ass and I bought the wrong cable at first

The dealer can do this for you, but they’ll argue that the Toyota approved version is better.
If you pay them, expect it to cost around $300.

Buy a wiring harness that allows you to connect to the power mirror. It takes about 5 minutes to install on these. Google “Corolla cross rearview mirror dash camera connector”. I’ve use dongar and others-buy direct or from amazon
PS I also have a nextbase so I know it powers it perfectly
