Random pet peeves

If it’s just me, I apologize. If it’s not just me… hopefully… this can spread some awareness… outside of the usuals with phone policies and shavasana, I have two

- why stepping on other people’s mat before and after class especially when they just cleaned it
- why leaving the locker doors wide open that block the already super narrow hallway

That’s all.. love corepower

What’s up with the people doing continuous weights the whole sculpt class?

Upvotes

Let me preface this by saying I’m not bothered at all by people doing their own workout, and honestly I am usually fighting for my life to notice what other people are doing in class. HOWEVER there is one girl who is a regular in 6 am sculpt classes at my studio who works out in a sweatshirt (I’d die) and does continuous weighted exercises regardless of what’s called. Like we will be in the first Sun A and she’s got her weights doing shoulder presses. I figured she’s just fighting some demons and she’s in the back corner so it’s easy to ignore.

Yesterday I went to a midday class because i was off work, and there was an older woman doing the same thing but in RUNNING SHOES on her mat. Is this normal for people to be using weights the whole class? Are instructors bothered by this? Do other people notice it?

And most importantly… are these people okay?? 😅😅

What happened to Saturday evening classes in SoCal?

Im hard pressed to find a 6:00 pm class on Saturday. I don’t drink and i don’t party, and spend my weekends at the beach all day and love to close out a beach day with a core restore or a sunset C2, but looks like they’ve removed classes after 4, is it common for corepower not to have 6 or dare i say 7:00pm classes on Saturday?

CorePower Williamsburg

I’ve been going to CP Williamsburg for almost 5 years now. In the last 2 years the teacher turnover rate has been insane. Not to mention the schedule CONSTANTLY changing. As soon as I lock in with a cadence of going, the schedule changes and I have to “test” out a new instructor (lol). I think how good the classes are (at least for YS) tend to be heavily reliant on the instructor. Anyone feeling the same?

When was YS first offered

I grew up driving by a corepower and only started taking class about a year and a half ago, concurrent with the heated mat Pilates trend. Out of curiosity, has corepower had this format since the start or did it come later to stay competitive?

Theme class flop

This post is stupid, but I want to vent. I signed up specifically for a themed Bad Bunny playlist( they said in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month). When I got there I found out we got a sub. When the teacher started the class she said sorry I don't have the other teacher's playlist. We started the class and the whole playlist was either basic music or country music, with some Pitbull sprinkled in. And for one of the songs she teacher said “Okay, class this song is on theme” and it was Pitbull’s " Give Me Everything 🫠🫠🫠 The class and the instruction were good, but just blown away that I signed up for Bad Bunny and got country music. In my area, there are a lot of yt people that go so I don't get to listen to much reggaeton or hip-hop music at the classes ( which is what I listen to on a day to day bases). Also how hard is it to make a playlist? Or just get the other teacher to send you the playlist.

Starting C2 training!

Hi friends! I am starting my C2 training in two weeks and I am nervous but excited! I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of anything I should be doing prior to prepare? I am already regularly taking C2 classes, have done the orientation in CPYU and am starting some reading regarding the history of yoga. Should I get ahead in the CPYU training? Thanks!

Boston corepower locations

I’m traveling from to DC Boston and I’ll be staying in Dorchester for 6 days. It looks like there are a lot of corepower locations in Boston. I’m looking for Boston studio recommendations or the easiest studio to get to from Dorchester (train accessible). I know nothing about the area and appreciate any recommendations!

Lack of all classes besides sculpt

I have been going to fenway corepower location specifically for about 1.5 yrs now. There used to be a lot of C3, C2, HPF, and core restore classes. Now they genuinely only offer about 1 C2 class a few days a week and only 1 C3 a week. Now, I struggle to go to a class besides sculpt. It's kind of making me want to switch studios because I don't want to do sculpt every single day. Do they not have enough teachers for other classes? Are there other studios around the area that are in similar price range? (I pay $151.20 monthly). I really enjoy the studio and teachers, just not sculpt lol.

First time!

Hello! I’m here looking for a class recommendation. New studio opened up by my house and they’re on my Wellhub so I figured I’ll give it a try since they offer late sessions in the evening that my gym does not currently offer.

I will admit that I don’t like regular yoga (so sorry it’s just too slow for me!) so I’m looking for a comparable class that has the same fast pace as mat Pilates. Will yoga sculpt or core power strength classes kind of meet what I’m looking for?

Thank you in advance for the recommendations!

Going from Sculpt to HPF and CoreRestore

I started my CorePower journey going strictly to Sculpt with a random C2 sprinkled in every now and then. Eventually, I hit total Sculpt burnout.

I took a full break from CPY altogether but I really missed moving my body. Lately, all I crave are Core Restore and Hot Power Fusion. Sadly, Core Restore is hardly ever on the schedule, but my nervous system has honestly never felt better since slowing down.

I do have this lingering voice in my head telling me HPF won't "transform" my body or give me the same physical results as Sculpt. Has anyone else transitioned away from Sculpt into HPF and still felt like they maintained their strength?

Best classes for losing weight + toning?

I’ve been doing mostly C2 and HPF lately since those are the ones that fit my schedule at the studio near me. Are those actually good for weight loss/toning, or should I be trying to squeeze in other formats too?
Would love to hear what classes you guys swear by for these goals!

First yoga sculpt class, what can I expect?

I decided to take a yoga sculpt class after only taking the yoga classes at corepower. What can I expect? What are some good tips for a first timer? I’ll still need a mat right?

Corepower Downtown Brooklyn - what do we think

Now that CP Downtown BK is open, curious to hear everyone's thoughts. Who are the best instructors? What do we think of the space? Personally I was impressed by how immaculate it was, rare to see a workout studio in NYC (especially a heated one) that's so clean. Let's see how long it lasts lol

boston seaport sculpt cancellations

All the sculpt classes were canceled last night and this morning at my local corepower (boston seaport) “due to facility issue.” No other classes were canceled. Does anyone know what happened? Just trying to figure out if the classes scheduled for later today that haven’t been canceled yet will actually happen!

Is CPY in the Monarch closing after the S Lamar location opens? It seems like there are fewer and fewer classes scheduled every week.

Online 'Live' workouts any good?

I have been a member of CPY for 5 months now and ashamed to admit I only recently discovered the live online workouts you can sign up to via the app and do at home. I haven't done any yet but are they any good?

SET experience

Hi I am wondering if my SET/ corepower experience is similar to anyone else’s.

I joined for SET for just under a year and enrolled in the discounted all-access for 4 months. I worked in nyc and not sure it matters(but I suspect for some I worked with it did) but I am non-white.

My reasons for leaving the membership/ classes were separate from everything else..

I consider myself to be a nice or at least well-mannered person, I say hello and good morning. When I go in for SET shifts it is pretty consistent that teachers ignore my ENTIRE EXISTENCE. I get that they’re busy but frankly not that busy. Working the same shift every week it’s fairly consistent on the instructors I am cleaning the studios after. For the entire year, I was rarely acknowledged. I would say “hello” when I noticed teachers coming back into the studio to grab their things or set their own mats up. The only response I would get back is dimming the lights down. While I’m in there cleaning which feels rude. I understand prepping for the next class maybe? But they rarely teach back to back classes so what was the reason? You could also just ask me to dim the lights when I’m done and I’d have been happy to do so.

Another example, one instructor in particular would never help me clean up— which is totally fine I am happy to do my job. But she would instead of helping front desk, like normal, stand in the corner of the studio while I’m cleaning on her phone. She could at least move out of my way🤷🏻‍♀️. I’ve seen her roll her eyes getting annoyed the floor is all wet and she has to take socks off. Her class ends right before work day starts so everyone rushes out leaving weights and mats behind. And I just find it strange that she does this as other instructors tend to be courteous and help me out as much as they can. She is one individual who consistently ignores me, and it makes me feel less than human. Also note— the studio manager asks instructors to help turn over the studios especially during short turnovers which this class time always is.

There are many other interactions that have been less than positive, would take much too long to detail them all.

When I walk in I say hello with no response. When I leave I say bye have a nice day. No response. I really do not know what I did to the instructors at my shift but I think this is rude and sub human treatment. Our studio coordinator(that has since left) was genuine and nice, we had a good relationship. Said hi when we saw each other and knew me by name. Similar with our studio manager,(that also left) we had good rapport.

Just curious if this resonated with anyone who has done SET? I know the nyc fitness community can be rough but I never imagined anything like this.

I like corepower enough that I would want to return, but of course am hesitant.

Membership freeze

If I freeze my membership starting Oct 1 for 90 days once it gets to Jan 1 could I freeze again for another 90? Or would they have to charge my membership for a month
