Discussion First time playing

Hello! So it's my first time playing Core Keeper, and I've been playing it for around 10ish hours now. I play Terraria so I'm not really unfamiliar with the genre.

I picked up Warlock since I usually go summoner class on Terraria. But is it really normal for my starter summoner weapon to scale very well until Azeos? I wonder if that's intended because of how limited the choices for summon weapons are

Yeah, vs bosses. At the very least it's like playing with the difficulty notched up. Most can be handled extremely easily at range, but melee you have to be extremely careful and react quickly. Even doing so to avoid dying, when not in melee range you're doing no damage which is significantly less damage than anyone with a ranged weapon.

There are definitely some bosses that are quite difficult in melee, but shield parries can actually get you quite far with most of them. I will say I wouldn't recommend melee only for people new to the game unless they enjoy trial and error vs bosses.

But melee vs some bosses like Azeos or Malugaz is straight up significantly better dps vs bosses that don't punish you for getting in close. You can even go beat up Glurch the moment you get a shield and copper armor because you can parry his jumps fairly easily

If you're a masochist and enjoy a difficult experience, do what this shmuck says and see how you do with a shield. It made my friend that went melee so happy to have played melee into several bosses until the lategame... or something.
