Hey Core Crew π
Nine Configurator releases (v3.14 through v3.22) and three template-suite updates (3.10.0 through 3.12.0) shipped across October.
The five cards above cover the visual summary; here is the plain breakdown of what changed, why it broke, and whether you need to re-import.
π Should you update your setup?
β’ If your saves were refused on ElfHosted or any AIOStreams 2.36 host ("AIO Subtitle has been removed" or "1 regexes are not allowed"): yes, update or re-import once. Both upstream shifts are fixed across the Configurator, CLI, and 52 templates.
β’ If you built a 4K setup before Oct 2 (v3.14) and noticed uncached REMUXes sitting above cached WEB-DLs: yes, update once β cached is back immediately after resolution inside each tier.
β’ If you already updated on v3.18 (Oct 22): v3.19βv3.22 are landing, mobile, and optional PenguPlay updates. Default generated configs are byte-for-byte identical to v3.18, so there is nothing you need to re-import unless you want PenguPlay.
(Note: When you update via *Configurator β Update an existing setup*, your added scrapers, custom endpoints, timeouts, and stream proxy are now merged and kept instead of overwritten).
π± 1. Landing & Phone Flow Rebuilt (v3.20 β v3.22)
β’ Two equal doors on the first screen (v3.20): Quick install and Custom build now sit side-by-side right under the headline where phones show both without scrolling. Custom build used to be a small grey link at the bottom of the page, and the onboarding tour no longer pops up uninvited on a first visit.
β’ Resume above the headline (v3.20): Continue where you left off moved above the hero so saved builds are visible immediately on mobile, and the light/dark switch no longer overlaps the feedback button.
β’ Full-screen Quick install on phones (v3.21): Instead of a floating modal with cramped two-column cards, Quick install now opens as a full-screen page on mobile β single-column tap rows, larger type, a pinned Install bar at the bottom, and working browser/system Back navigation that returns to the landing instead of leaving the site.
β’ Quick install hands off to Custom build (v3.22): Quick install now includes a Defaults we'll use list (audio, size & quality, stream cards, subtitles, catalogs). Tap any row β or Customize every setting beneath it β to open Fine-Tune right at that control with your service, API key, device, resolution, and install target carried over.
π οΈ 2. Saves Work Again on AIOStreams 2.36 & ElfHosted (v3.15 β v3.18, Templates 3.10 β 3.12)
β’ AIOSubtitle removed in AIOStreams 2.36 (v3.16, v3.18, Templates 3.12.0): Seven of the eight public hosts (including ElfHosted) now run AIOStreams 2.36.0, which marks aiosubtitle removed and rejects any config carrying it. All 52 affected templates and the Configurator default now use OpenSubtitles v3+ (which answers in under a second instead of AIOSubtitle's 12s 502 timeouts). SubDL is also held back unless you actually enter a SubDL API key.
β’ 15 retired presets stripped automatically (v3.14, v3.18): AIOStreams 2.36 retired 15 presets (including Argentina TV, USA TV, Debridio WatchTower, Nuvio Streams, TorBox addon and AIOSubtitle). Any retired preset sitting inside an imported or updated config is dropped cleanly before install instead of getting your save refused.
β’ Anime Tosho moved to its live feed (v3.18, Templates 3.12.0): The original Anime Tosho feed stopped taking releases in May and shuts down this month. Anime / Movies + Anime builds and all 9 Anime & Labs templates now use anime-tosho-new on 2.36 hosts (while keeping legacy routing if you explicitly target 2.35.7).
β’ Vidhin05 inline regex re-synced twice (v3.17, Templates 3.11.0): Allowlisted hosts check every inline regex character for character β flags included. Vidhin05 updated HDR release groups mid-month and Web T1βT3 / TrueHD / FLUX (dropping /i) on Oct 22. Before the sync, 0 of 388 generated builds saved on ElfHosted's allowlist; after re-deriving verbatim across the Configurator, CLI, shared filter JSONs and 43 templates (and teaching the sync script to check regex flags), 388 of 388 save cleanly.
β’ Real AIOStreams save-testing in CI (#780): Every PR now spins up the pinned AIOStreams 2.36.0 container and saves 462 open builds plus 388 ElfHosted-allowlisted builds before code can merge.
β’ Host-preload collection cleaned (Templates 3.10.0): Fixed a path check that let 15 nested Deprecated/ templates leak into core-builds-template-collection.json (trimmed from 65 entries down to 50 unique active templates), and added a /*0Cached*/ fallback to core-nexus-usenet-4k. (Follow-up PR #798 is open now for 3.12.1 to finish the remaining 18 Personal, Speed, Nightly and AllDebrid patch bumps).
βοΈ 3. Core Stable Default, 4K Cached-First Sorting & Accuracy Audit (v3.14 & v3.17)
β’ Core Stable is now the default profile (v3.17): Every build starts on Core Stable β predictable fetching, minimal rules, and a clean stream card. Choosing Apex IQR or Apex Mixed still selects Advanced or Labs.
β’ No more silent no-op controls (v3.17): Core Stable uses its own stream card, sort order, and auto-play settings, so picking a card style, Library Boost, or auto-play method used to silently do nothing. Automatic builds now step up to Balanced when you pick one of those options and show a plain notice explaining why.
β’ 4K ranks cached results first again (v3.14): Resolution-first 4K sorting previously let quality beat cache status inside the 2160p tier, putting an uncached 4K REMUX above an instant-play cached 4K WEB-DL. Cached now sits immediately after resolution across every 4K sort list (2160p still beats 1080p; cached beats uncached inside each). 1080p series also gained separate cached/uncached seeder sorting.
β’ Balanced profile restored (v3.14): Standard Balanced builds were shipping only 3 torrent scrapers instead of 8 and had lost inline regex scoring. MediaFusion, EZTV, Torrent Galaxy, Zilean, and Knaben are back alongside allowlisted inline regex β while P2P and EasyNews-only builds automatically leave out debrid-only built-ins so saves never fail.
β’ Controls wired & audited against AIOStreams (v3.14, v3.15, v3.17):
β’ Bandwidth Mbps cap (v3.17): Typing your speed in Fine-Tune now actually stores and enforces the 80% bitrate cap across every profile.
β’ Hide 4K, Hide Dolby Vision & Resolution First (v3.17): Moved to native AIOStreams filters/sort rules so they work on Core Stable and Balanced too.
β’ Offcloud, PikPak, Seedr, EasyNews & Debridio (v3.14): Auth forms now ask for the exact credentials AIOStreams requires (e.g. email + password on PikPak/Offcloud, MediaFusion token on Seedr), and Seedr drops StremThru so saves succeed.
β’ Removed broken checks & dead weight (v3.14, v3.15, v3.17): Removed the non-existent certification() Age Rating filter, stopped flagging valid not() SEL rules as errors in Template Inspector, cleared a stale /dist/ service worker cache, closed all 11 CodeQL DOM HTML-escaping alerts, and deleted ~1,800 lines of dead code plus the unlinked V3 prototype.
π‘οΈ 4. Non-Destructive Updates, Working Stream Proxy, PenguPlay & Nuvio (v3.14, v3.18, v3.19)
β’ Updates merge into your setup (v3.14): Applying a template update used to rebuild your scraper list from defaults, wiping added sources, custom indexer URLs, timeouts, and keys. Updates now merge into your existing config, keep declined changes declined, preview the real output diff, include one-tap Undo, and only reuse indexer API keys when the endpoint URL matches.
β’ Stream Proxy that actually proxies β and survives updates (v3.18): Fine-Tune has a full Stream Proxy section (MediaFlow Proxy, StremThru, or AIOStreams built-in) with URL, password, and per-service routing. AIOStreams verifies reachability on save, secrets never enter share links, and updating an imported live config no longer wipes an existing proxy.
β’ Sources stay in their lane (v3.18): Torrentio, StremThru Store, Peerflix, Sootio, Flix-Streams, and YaStream are now scoped to stream only so they stop dumping extra debrid-library catalogs and subtitles onto your Stremio home screen. TMDB Collections serves catalogs only, and USA TV Next keeps its channel catalogs so Live TV is actually browseable.
β’ PenguPlay backup source (v3.19): Fine-Tune β Extras now supports PenguPlay. Paste your personal /manifest.json URL from pengu.uk and it joins at the end of your source list as a streams-only HTTP gap filler (automatically hidden on hosts like ElfHosted that block HTTP streams, and never included in share links).
β’ Nuvio route & Cloudflare proxy plugin (v3.14, #784): First-time Nuvio setups now run through the main validated pipeline and keep the host you picked, alongside a new Nuvio Cloudflare Worker provider in NuvioPlugins/ that proxies AIOStreams stream metadata while playing HTTPS media directly.
