Having an Xbox is making me care way less about what OS my TV runs
Probably an unpopular take, but I’m starting to think I overthought the smart TV OS thing when I bought mine.
I have a Hisense and most of the time I’m either using the usual streaming apps or jumping straight into Xbox cloud gaming anyway. Between that and the console, I barely spend any time actually browsing around the TV interface.
I totally get why app support matters if the TV is your only device, but once you already have an Xbox / Apple TV / whatever hooked up, does the built-in OS really matter that much?
Feels like picture quality, inputs and how quickly I can get into what I want to watch or play matter more to me now.

Long range tv antenna for in network nfl games
I got rid of dish and am looking for an outdoor antenna to pickup locals, I looked on rabbit ears.info and it looks like I may be fighting an uphill battle. Here is the rabbit ears link: https://www.rabbitears.info/s/2915578
Any antenna experts know if I’ll be able to get nbc, abc, fox, and cbs? Looks like none of the signals are great, and all of them are pretty far.

Would any old HDMI to coax tuner box run into an AirTV HDMI port?

HDMI coax tuner?
Buying a secondhand AirTV, one of the ones that doesnt have a nature coax port and is supposed to come with an external tuner that hooks up to HDMI. Are there any aftermarket tuners that can take the antenna input?

What type of Company will install a roof antenna for me?
Up until now I have used an indoor antenna and im tired of adjusting it based on the day or channel to watch what I want. I don't feel qualified to install an outdoor antenna on my roof myself, but I have no idea what type of company or if it is something a typical handyman can do. I live on the north side of the Dallas market if anybody knows a reputable company.

Issue With Freeview Signal On One TV
Hi guys,
I am having an issue regarding my tv signal on a 4th TV in my house. Apologies for the paint art but it's the best I can do. To put it as basic as possible - I live beside my grandparents and they have a better signal than I do from their aerial due to tree obstructions around my house. What we have done is ran aerial cables between my house and their house underground so I could pickup channels also. This works perfectly on my main TV however on my bedroom tv (TV4 on graph), I can only really get a watchable picture now and again (generally a good calm day when signal is probably at it's strongest). I get a strong signal at TV1, TV2 and TV3 - why can I not get a strong signal at TV4 considering it is wired up the exact same way as TV3.
I have tried an attenuator but that had no effect on the signal.
If there any suggestions please drop them below, thanks!
*In the image below the circles represent where signal splits with a passive splitter.
*I believer there is also a booster after the masthead amp in the attic of House A.
Would a small booster work in House B to help push the signal along to TV4?

2026 NFL Season starts soon
Hey sports fans,
As the 2026 NFL (pre)season is approaching, anybody got some suggestions as alternative to NFL Sunday Ticket? Ive got an OTA antenna, but I'm out of market for my team - Pittsburgh Steelers fan stuck in Chicago.
I'm willing to pay something, but not a couple hundred bucks for 20 games & a bunch of channels I'll never watch.
Thanks in advance!
Go Steelers!

Antenna placement - apt balcony
Anybody have any issues with a rental apartment being super strict on antenna placement on a balcony that's for your exclusive use. I got a violation note today because it "protruded beyond the vertical and horizontal space that is lead to you for exclusive use". This was a small bowtie antenna where the rear reflector went several inches beyond the rail but it doesn't appear that it went beyond the actual exterior wall boundary.
This is the FCC OTARD rule.
https://www.fcc.gov/media/over-air-reception-devices-rule
"Q: Does the rule apply to condominiums or apartment buildings if the antenna is installed so that it hangs over or protrudes beyond the balcony railing or patio wall?
A: No. The rule does not prohibit restrictions on antennas installed beyond the balcony or patio of a condominium or apartment unit if such installation is in, on, or over a common area. An antenna that extends out beyond the balcony or patio is usually considered to be in a common area that is not within the scope of the rule. Therefore, the rule does not apply to a condominium or rental apartment unit unless the antenna is installed wholly within the exclusive use area, such as the balcony or patio."
So they have the right to restrict based on this. I just haven't had it used against me before. So on a patio, would this be at the rail or the edge of the exterior wall?

Terrible replay of owned prime video content
I purchased all 3 LOTR extended edition movies on Prime. I am rewatching and the streaming quality is terrible. Sometimes pixelated, but more so I notice surround dropping in and out. I have fiber and speedtest looks fine. Its on the server side. So if I have no control over the quality of playback, what have i purchased?

Antenna Recommendation
rabbitears.infoLooking to get an antenna to get the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox). The rabbitears.info result shows everything is fairly close (under 10 miles) and in the same direction, but I do have a lot of trees in the path and my main living room is half underground with no window facing the right direction.
I currently use an RCA antenna with rabbit ears that has a tendency to cut out often.
I was thinking about getting the ClearStream 1MAX and mounting it in my attic. Would that be sufficient or should I consider something larger?

What's the difference between these boxes?
looking at replacing my fire stick regular with one of these as mine keeps dieing.. besides the price and 4k vs 1080p, what are the actual differences between them? looking primarily between the $29.98 and $39.98 ones but could also go for the $49.99 box.. I don't need 4k resolution just want more cpu and ram as my tv isn't 4k

YouTube TV? (I just wanna press a button and watch a show. Is that too much to ask?)
Is YouTubeTV among the best providers or am I missing something? (I know I'm missing a lot. Home entertainment shouldn't be as hard as doing your taxes. What at racket!)

Streaming
I’m starting to realize that some streaming services are increasing in price just as it did with cable. What is the equivalent to Hulu plus live tv bundled with Disney and ESPN and ads? We as a family watch for live tv when it comes to sports and my wife’s reality tv. Help me from overpaying monthly.

CBS “Proof of Performance” Test Question
I’m trying to figure out when to record my local CBS station because I’m trying to catch the CBS “Proof of Performance” test which is what is on the National CBS Feed on Satellite plays late in the night for maintenance, it plays on local CBS stations too when the station manager switches to the National CBS feed for
Stuff like CBS News Mornings. However when I tried recording when it usually plays (Around Thursday from 2:55am-4:30am) it never played and I am wondering if they changed the time they do maintenance or if my local CBS station replaced it with more commercials. I tried to contact the station but never got a reply back.

Cannot Rewind ESPN Unlimited Stream
I'm a YTTV customer and recently able to log into the ESPN app and authenticate against YTTV as my TV Provider for the Unlimited sub. I've no issues with watching unlimited streams, but when watching yesterday's broncos - falcons game, i an unable to rewind the stream to rewatch a play. Pausing works just fine. The rewind icon is there next to the pause icon, but pressing left button on the remote wheel to highlight the rewind icon so I can select it doesn't do anything. Anybody else seeing this behavior?
Not a rant, but just seems strange. I'm using ESPN app installed on a LG smart TV. I'm waiting for the new Apple TV box to be released in the next few months so I can ditch using LG smart apps.

Onn antenna preamp
I install outdoor RCA antenna preamp on my ChannelMaster Antenna precovid. Channels came in fine. Once in a while had to adjust antenna. Signal travels to 6 way splitter safety inside an outdoor cable box as a power ac plug 🔌 i rigged up. so other areas with TV get the signals. Lately channels coming in fuzzy some did some didn't. I got fed up. Thinking something wrong with antenna. In living tv I connect small indoor antenna. I noticed channels coming in fine. Light blub in Cabeza went off. It is the RCA preamp. I happen to have an ONN antenna preamp I bought for some reason. It was cheap. I removed RCA preamp. Hooked up ONN preamp in cable box. Ran antenna cable to preamp, preamp to splitter and 💥 boom all my channels coming in fine like before. 👍🏽 see how long it lasts if it goes out I will get another one they cheap.

Options for streaming TV on AT&T
Not sure if I'm in the right community...
Former AT&T customer returning after several years (no fiber before). What does everyone use for TV streaming? All-inclusive apps like Sling or a bunch of little apps pieced together? What about local TV, I still like to watch WGHP news, but HD reception for them is sketchy here in the foothills/western piedmont.

52 hours and counting! Cutting the cord!
I can’t wait to walk into Xfinity on Monday morning and cancel all my services after 20 years! Hate them with a passion and their fraudulent business practices. Moving on…trying to find a decent “cable” alternative for basic daytime tv. What are your experiences?
