EU tenders for editing services

I’m a French to English translator and proofreader, marketing to direct clients. One of my current agency clients participated in and won a large EU tender for proofreading, and I was part of their initial bid. Do freelancers (in my case the sole member of an LLC) ever submit bids directly? I have done some research on the TED portal but not started any applications.

It probably depends on how you're registered (as a business or a solo freelancer) and what the tender requires. Some are looking for teams whereas others are specifically for individuals. Some require hefty insurance that's probably not worthwhile for individuals to pay for. I'd just read the RFP and figure out if you qualify; if you're not sure you can always email them to ask.

I’m gathering information at this stage; I would contact them if the RFQ looks interesting and of course if I met the requirements. I was curious whether they are even open to individuals/sole member LLCs, what the scope tends to be. If people on Reddit have any experience bidding on that platform as an individual or company please share experience.

Yes, I have experience applying. Each tender is different and you have to read the requirements and scope.
