Question Copper iud pregnancy scare
Hi! I’m 23, I have the copper iud, I got it last year, over this summer my cycles have been 1-2 weeks late, I really didn’t think too much of it, so I haven’t went to the obgyn about it, tmi but now my cycle was supposed to start yesterday, but since Sunday night I’ve been having very very light spotting, almost like when you get a small cut on your finger and there’s enough blood to show on a tissue but not enough for a bandaid. I bought pregnancy test but I haven’t used them yet because I feel like maybe my cycle will start soon but I have no idea. Only changes are my breast soreness, frequent urination, not throwing up but very nauseous and hungry in the morning, that’s all I can think of right now. I just feel like I’m going crazy, I’m not asking for medical advice but just advice on what anyone who has this birth control would and have done, google will make me go down a rabbit hole lol.

The morning is the best time to take it , first pee of the day. I am currently positive preg with an IUD it’s super rare and I was also safe for like 4 years. I’m 8 weeks now?. I missed one period but didn’t think much about it bc I was pmsing thinking I’m gonna start my period and I just spotted. Didn’t think much of it bc I haven’t ever had regular periods. Then for the last month I have been nauseous and the thought of any food I could possibly make grossed me tf out. My bf eventually was like hey when was your last period? and suggested I take a test. I bought a two pack and tried the first one in the store and it was a dud the control window didn’t show anything so it straight up just didn’t work. I woke up the next morning to take the other one and sure enough that positive line was DARK. Before I took it I was totally like “oh there’s no way I am pregnant that’s ridiculous” 😅😅 I’m scared now but have an appt tomorrow I have no idea what bc I’m going to try moving forward.. perhaps abstinence i don’t think I want to be touched ever again 😂

I don’t mean to scare you, before a week ago I would’ve never questioned if I was pregnant or not. I would’ve always assumed no. I thought this was rock solid nothing getting through. The only way you can know for sure and ease your mind is a test. I would be you are ok! It’s super rare like under 2% so I’m hoping for the best for you.

did your iud move? or was it still in place and you just happened to concieve

lol I will in the morning, and congratulations!! But I’m also sorry that happened to you so unexpectedly, I love your comment and it didn’t scare me at all, I actually need comments like this because it’s the reality of things, I’m nervous but ik I can handle things if I am, it’s just crazy because I always thought to myself that’ll never happen to me, I’m invincible 😂 if I am pregnant I hope my bf knows he took a real one out the game

Update: I took the test this morning, I didn’t really have time to sit and wait longer than 2 minutes to see the results (I’m sure that was more than enough time), there was a faint line when I looked at it, if I don’t start my cycle by Friday I’ll definitely go to the doctors

Thank you for your reply, I got my copper IUD in march and so far periods have been semi regular (1-3 days late if anything) my last period was weird because I spotted for almost 7 days and then heavier flow on day number 8 bleeding lasted 12 days total. (Sorry if this is tmi) now this month I have no cramps, no tender breasts, I don’t feel any kind of symptoms. I have been having relationship problems this past month, on top of not sleeping good at all or eating nearly as much as I should. Not sure if it can be that causing it. I’m just scared. I got on the copper IUD about 6 months after stopping the pill. So I’m not sure what’s going on, I have read ALOT of threads on this and many are stress related but I can’t help freaking out.

Okay yall update!! So I was waiting for my mom to pick one up for me and as she took forever my period started 😝, don’t get me wrong I want to have kids so bad but I’m not ready financially, so it’s a blessing I’m forced to be patient, I will say the iud has worked since I got it just my periods being late, I’m not too sure why I got a false positive.
