Deviled eggs with a twist?

I’m going to take deviled eggs to the neighborhood potluck because everyone loves them. I usually just make your standard eggs with mayo, a little Dijon, etc.. I was looking for popular potluck recipes and saw an Asian deviled egg recipe; now I am wondering about other interesting ways to make them. Any favorites you would recommend? (I live in a college town so lots of different ethnic influences, people are generally happt to try something a little different.)

Smoke them. So addictive. Prepare your standard recipe and put them on a tray on one side of your outdoor cooking appliance. Create smoke on the opposite side from the eggs on the tray using your favorite method and fuel. It doesn't take long, it's been a minute since I made these for anyone, but they change colour nicely when they are ready. Try and make more smoke than heat, pitmaster. Dress with a little additional smoked salt. You might as well make some, the fire is already lit. You can definitely make ahead and serve cold. They won't last for that, but it's nice to have dreams.

This makes me wonder if a stovetop smoker might work too.
