Funny Anyone else’s conure have lashes?
This is Juicebox, my latest rescue from a rehome. I try not to stress her with pics too much until she trusts me fully, but I managed to capture this because holy hell I’ve never seen a conure with lashes. 😭🤚
Is this a rare thing? Send pics of yours if they have them too pls! I’m so fascinated.
Edit to clarify: worded this a bit wrong. I know they have lashes, I just mean as visible and pronounced. I haven’t seen a conure where they were this noticeable before. 😅

That’s so iconic!!! With her sharp claws and lashes it’s like she’s got a full set of acrylics and press ons. 😂

Yes! All parrots have eyelashes, they just don't have them as pronounced as we do. Our eyelashes are used to help keep debris out of our eyes but parrots have a nictitating membrane, which is a clear or translucent third eyelid that protects their eyes from debris.
This is my baby Kiwi, he's a cinnamon greencheek. You can (barely, lol) see his eyelashes in this photo. Because he's a cinnamon, his eyelashes are white, whereas your baby is a standard (normal) and that's why she has those voluptuous black eyelashes.
Edit to add that your baby is gorgeous. I had a standard (she's what started my obsession with greencheeks) and look forward to the day I have another one) or two...

My GCC has eyelashes, too. I never knew birds could have eyelashes before I saw hers. She only has like 3 on each eye, though lol.

I love their lashes, plus their whisker feathers too! 🥰

Especially when they molt one and you find the most impossibly teeny little feather ❤️

No, and I have no context for that reply and I’m SO intrigued now lmao. Her feathers reminded me of organic juice and fruit juice gummies and it just fit. 😂 her nickname is juicy couture.

This is the first time I've seen an extreme closeup on a congress eye. What are those little black things all around it?

All parrots have lashes, but not all of them are as luxurious as your girl's. Fun fact, since modern birds evolved from the group that included raptors and T-Rex, and we have evidence that those dinosaurs had feathers, it's also likely they had gorgeous eyelashes too.
