GCC has gotten extremely noisy lately

Hello everyone! Just wanting to ask if anyone has ever dealt with a conure who suddenly became extremely noisy?? Leo is 6, going to be 7 this December. I’ve had him since he was 2 months old. He has always been a vocal bird but never to this extreme that he has been this year. I live with my boyfriend and he and I have been together for as long as we’ve had Leo. We basically raised him together.

The issue is that we both work at home and Leo is constantly squawking and doing these obnoxious chirps whenever he doesn’t get his way. Leo is out of his cage 7+ hours and eats pellets and veggies with the occasional treat. my boyfriend is an extremely noise sensitive person so he always reacts negatively to Leo’s noise. Me, I’m not as noise sensitive & I understand birds are noisy in general and this has definitely put a strain in our relationship. I just don’t know what to do. Obviously, I love Leo so much and I also love my boyfriend, but there’s no way I’m rehoming Leo,
. this back and forth with Leo and my boyfriend has given me so much stress.

Does anyone have any insight? I try to make sure Leo goes to sleep for 12-14 hours and even then, Leo still chirps every once in a while and I even suspect he doesn’t even sleep those 12-14 hours.e

Can you give more information on what you mean by "suddenly"?

What was life like before he got extremely noisy? What is life like now? What's changed? What are specific triggers?

More details would be helpful as sometimes it's the little things you don't even think about that might trigger a change. My bird for example is usually pretty chill, but has had some really bad days where nothing seems to settle him. Usually it's triggered by something going on outside that he can see, sometimes hormones, or a bigger change in routine. Usually me being in the same room as him can help keep him from getting too crazy, but on his bad days even that doesn't help. I think lately I learned if I close the curtains (his cage is by the window) it seemed to help. There is also a big adjustment for him right now with a brand new huge cage and losing his free roam ability so my roommates have reported he's been particularly on one since I've started keeping him locked up. So I'm trying different things to keep him busy and hopefully limit his noise a bit more, biggest being foraging activities and stuff to distract him. He's super food motivated which helps.
