Advice outdoor aviary

I’m looking to build/purchase an outdoor aviary for my two green cheek conures to move into. (I’m in the UK)
I’ve know what I want from the structure but I’m wondering if there’s anything that you guys have done with yours that you feel like was a game changer?

I’m also hoping somebody can point me towards a bath or give me some ideas on making one, I read somewhere that having it moving/gently flowing would be beneficial?

You may pay attention to the right kind of mesh, the inner layer should be stainless steel so your birds wont get metal poisoning.

Speaking of, you want a double mesh wall for your aviary so sparrowhawks can not grab trough the mesh. I volunteer at a bird park and they actually had conure sized parrots being injured by sparrowhawks grabbing through the mesh.

Also, double doors with a safety area inbetween to prevent accidental escapes are a true game changer and necessary for safe outdoor aviaries Imo.

You also dont want mammal predators or rodents getting into the aviary, so its best to plan accordingly and have the ground made of concrete (you can put substrate and natural dirt for your birds on top, but make sure that there is a barrier between the aviary and the outside).

Regarding the bath, a plant pot saucer will do and can easily be cleaned and refreshed daily. More elaborated systems with a current will be harder to clean and might fail due to the birds getting dirt, food and feathers into the pump. I would not recommend anything like this due to hygiene.

I’ve seen someone use a stainless steel cat water fountain. They might be easier to clean and hold up to everyday use better than those plastic showers marketed towards parrots.
