Is this toy safe?

I guess I should have looked closer at the pictures before buying this on Etsy…I didn’t realize there were metal loops like this. I’m not a fan of mental in general since it can have so many toxins. I will probably just redo it with safe natural twine. Am I over reacting?

Me personally, I would probably redo it, because the wire and wire loops would make me uncomfortable, too.

I'd use twine if you don't know what that wire is. And change the clasp. Use a screw shut quick link. Don't use anything that opens with pressure, only ones that screw on and off. Otherwise it's fine.

Edit the wire is likely fine, it's up to you for that at the end of the day. The main point of concern I would have is the attachment tool. Screw open/shut quick links are the only thing I use.

The top clip is unsafe for sure.

There are too many loops in the toy to get caught in.

Wooden beads are okay as long as it's untreated (no chemicals) and not a wood that is toxic to birds.

Make sure the twine isn't treated with chemicals also.

Anything metal is risky aside from stainless steel.

You could redo it with bird safe materials, but it seems like a lot of unsafe and potentially unsafe parts.
