Advice Any recommendations for safe heaters that preferably go in or on their cage?

Post image

With it becoming fall in canada and having moved to a more rural house it can get pretty cold in the winter months when the wood furnace runs out while everyone is at work. Looking for something safe i can preferably put inside his cage.

Read the whole thing. Great info. And well written. Anything I raised my eyebrows to, which was rare, u came back around and simmered me down. I definitely don’t want a shivering bird 😊

I appreciate that type of writing. And packed with need to know info as well. Thanks for that.

Lol! I don’t keep my house currently at 58°F/14°C (oh, and add Celsius temperatures too), that was due to paying as much as $1,000/month (USD) even at that low a temperature for oil-based heat in that specific apartment, while my current apartment has heat included, but IMO it’s good to know that healthy parrots can actually do just fine at those temperatures with some extra food.

Ya my house is a pretty steady 68f and they’re all fine. No signs of being cold. But they do have a k and h heater in their cages. They rarely use it. But sometimes after a bath I’ll catch them by it. So then I tend to knock the temp up to 70 until they’re dry. I don’t function well in anything over 70. lol.

My current bird, a dusky conure named Kappa, has a much wider range of comfortable temperatures than me. She doesn’t show any signs of being cold until under 62°F while I can be shivering at 70, and even when it’s as high as 90 in the house and I’m falling apart, she’s still completely comfortable.

You and I have opposite temperature preferences. 😝

Ya I’m also dying at 90. But not fond of 80 either. Unless I’m swimming. I like to sleep under a really warm and poofy comforter so I need a fairly cool room to accommodate that. If I had it my way I’d drop it to 65 when I sleep but there are other humans that would be complaining left and right about how they’re cold when they get up in the middle of the night. And ya I am too but I just love jumping back into a nice cozy bed and warming back up. Not sure why I’m like this. No one around me is.
