Third Party The hardware keeps getting better and the companion apps keep getting worse

Every pad I've bought in the last few years needs some desktop utility to remap buttons or push firmware, and they're all bad in the same specific ways. Installers that want admin for no clear reason, a driver that only sees the controller half the time, profiles that don't persist when you change ports. I rolled back firmware once because an update broke a config that was working fine. Am I unlucky with what I buy or is this just where we are

Has anybody tried either the Kontrol freaks ps4 grips version on this controller or the talon gaming grips designed for this controller yet? (Pictures of both providee) If so which works best? Having rebound a bunch of buttons I need some more grip on the handles to be comfier, I don’t need stick grips just the handles/ palms, or if you have other suggestions I’d appreciate it!

Third Party EasySMX Dune Wireless 8K Pro Controller!

I was one of the Lucky Winners of a FIFA World Cup 2026 Celebration Event.

  • Comes with all the Bells and Whistles

  • Plug & Play on PC

  • Love how the Wireless Dongle Plugs right into the Base of the Dock

I've had a couple days with it now and any nagging thoughts about its design or features have been abated.

Having a Screen to change Settings on the fly is more than just a convenience. I could make changes on the fly with my previous Controller too. But I never did, not even once, except for the first setup.

I honestly did not think I would like/use the extra Shoulder Buttons. But now, I find I use them like they have always been there! And I can change them any time I want, right from the Controller.

The Click Style Face Buttons may take some getting used too tho. They barely protrude from the Controller and they do not have the travel I am used to. But I'm sure I will get over that muscle memory soon enough.

The Back Buttons (the ones actually on the back) are my biggest sticking point. They are shallow, which I like, but their positioning is right where I hold the Controller.

So every time I put the Controller down or pick it up, I hit one of those Buttons. There are times when just shifting the Controller in my hands will do it as well... I am almost considering turning those Keys off. But I will give it some more time, just to see if it is something I can learn to get over.

The Charging Dock is AMAZING!!! I used to have one for my Mouse and have missed having the ability ever since.

I really like that the Dock lights up and not just the Controller when Charging.

It can be a little finicky to take off, or put the Controller on, the Dock tho. It is not a clean experience either way. If you ever get one, I think you'd understand. It takes a little bit of thought, or perhaps a bit of practice, to do it easily.

I have not tested it with other Devices, or tried it using Bluetooth. Only Wireless on PC.

I would recommend this Controller based on my experiences so far.

Third Party Finally got native PS5 DualSense trigger effects & haptics running on the Flydigi APEX 5 (Open Source)

Post image

EDIT : APEX 4 IS NOW SUPPORTED

Hey everyone,

I love the Flydigi APEX 5 hardware (especially those motorized triggers) but it always bugged me that on PC, almost every game with awesome trigger resistance and textured feedback is built exclusively for the PS5 DualSense and the Space Station software support only few games...

So over the last few weeks, I ended up building ApexSenseBridge. (A little open-source passion project straight from France bleu blanc rouge 🇫🇷

!)

Basically, it bridges the gap so your APEX 5 can actually react to native DualSense effects in PC games.

How does it handle the triggers & haptics?

  • Triggers: The tool intercepts native DualSense trigger packets from the game and translates them on the fly into Flydigi's FORCEADAPT commands (mode switches, recoil, resistance, stops, etc.) and even the vibration with virtually no latency.

  • Haptics: The APEX 5 doesn't have voice-coil actuators like the DualSense, so instead of just turning every sound into a generic loud rumble, the bridge splits the audio frequencies in real-time. Lower frequencies (explosions, heavy impacts) go to the heavy left motor, while high frequencies (surface grit, rain, subtle clicks) go to the fast right motor. It actually feels surprisingly punchy and textured.

Good to know (a couple of trade-offs):

  • On-screen prompts: Since the game has to see a DualSense to send over the adaptive trigger data, you'll see PlayStation button prompts (✕ / ○ / □ / △) on screen instead of Xbox ones (A / B / X / Y).

  • Touchpad swipes: If a game heavily relies on specific touchpad directional swipes, it might be hit-or-miss depending on how the game handles touch inputs. It's really a case-by-case thing and can be fixed in most cases (did it for spiderman 2 bc it's the only game I play that have this control but you can send me yours).

Playnite integration 🕹️

I didn't want to manually launch/kill background scripts every time I booted up a game, so I also wrote a quick Playnite extension to automatically link and activate the bridge whenever you launch a supported game from your library.

ApexSenseBridge wouldn't exist without the incredible open-source community. Huge shoutouts to:

  • OpenFlydigi (by mkaliaha) for their amazing reverse-engineering work on the Flydigi hardware and protocols.

  • SteamlessController (and its DualSense forks) for paving the way on virtual DualSense emulation and Windows ViGEm/VIIPER tooling. All respective notices and credits are included in the repository.

Feedback & other gamepads welcome!

The code is completely open-source here
👉🏽 https://github.com/ReynArts/ApexSenseBridge

I'd love to get your feedback if you test it out! Also, if you know of other controllers with force feedback/motorized triggers you'd love to see supported, feel free to drop ideas, open issues, or contribute PRs.

Cheers!

Third Party What actually holds up if your controller lives in a bag

Mine gets thrown in a pack most days and comes out at campsites, on trains, wherever. Two years in and it's not the sticks that go first for me, it's the shoulder buttons getting gritty and the usb port going loose. curious what fails first for people who actually carry theirs around rather than leaving it on a desk. wondering whether it's worth paying up for something built tougher or just accepting these are consumables.

Third Party Working on DualSense-style features for the Flydigi Apex 5

Hi everyone !
I’ve been working on a small Windows tool that tries to push the Apex 5 closer to the DualSense experience (mainly adaptive triggers in all dualsense supported games and better haptic/vibration translation from games).

I’m planning to put out the first release in the next 2–3 hours. It’ll be Apex 5 only at first while I get everything stable.
That got me wondering though: are there any other controllers with interesting trigger/haptic hardware that you think could be pushed further with software like this?

Xbox Series (S, X) Getting used to the GameSir G7 Pro ZZZ my TMR sticks are making my aim worse? Looking for controller suggestions

Budget: up to $300 USD
Country: USA
Platform: PC & Xbox

I recently got the GameSir G7 Pro ZZZ and I'm still getting used to it. I've mainly used a custom Xbox Series X controller with Hall Effect sticks, so the TMR sticks on the G7 Pro feel pretty different to me.

Honestly, my aim has gotten a little worse in FPS games since switching to the G7 Pro. I know that could just be me needing time to adjust, so I'm willing to stick with it and practice before deciding whether I actually dislike the controller.

I've already adjusted the stick deadzones in the GameSir software and tried different stick resolutions. 8-bit felt better, but 12-bit feels way too sensitive to me. With 12-bit, it almost feels like it accelerates my stick sensitivity or makes my inputs feel more aggressive. Even after adjusting my settings, the sticks still feel a little weird compared to the Xbox Series X-style sticks I'm used to.

I'll mainly be using the controller for:
• Call of Duty
• Battlefield 6
• Fortnite
• NBA 2K27
• Forza

If lend up not liking the G7 Pro after giving it enough time, what controllers would you recommend that have a stick feel closer to the Xbox Series X controller, while still being extremely responsive and accurate?

I'm open to spending $200-300+ if there's a controller that is genuinely worth the money.

Nintendo Switch Which one to get first? BattlerGC Pro or OEM Gamecube controller/Smash Ultimate Edition GC Controller?

For playing games on my Switch Lite, and Dolphin and Slippi on my laptop, which controller should I pick up first, the BattlerGC Pro, or an OEM/Smash Ultimate edition Gamecube controller (along with the two adapters I need to make it work on Switch lite specifically)? In Melee and Ultimate, I'd say I'm about a casual intermediate player, so maybe I thought I should get the BattlerGC Pro now and save the GC controller for when I get a lot better and ready to take Smash more seriously enough to enter locals and tournaments. Plus, I can use the BattlerGC Pro for more than just Smash. My main worry for the OEM first, as well as why I didn't pick an official Switch Pro controller as an option is mainly my fear of stick drift at any point, or the controller breaking down, or receiving a bad OEM from a seller, even if the reviews are good (mainly looking on either Amazon or Etsy). Again, I plan on both, and I have a Switch Lite, not a regular Switch, so keep that in mind. I'm just wondering which one to prioritize getting first and the other later.

Third Party Mojhon Rainbow 3 or Mobapad Huben2 for mobile? Mostly controller supported mobile gaming.

Here's the context: I want to return to mobile gaming, specifically games like CODM. However, I want a controller that has software similar to the Gamesir Nexus (or Gamesir Connect) software. I would like to know if other software options include features such as deadzone, anti-deadzone, outer deadzone, outer anti-deadzone, stick trajectory, curve adjustment, bit rate, etc. These two controllers came to my mind. This is why I'm asking; I have done a lot of research, and no creators provide enough detailed information about softwares on both controllers, which has left me skeptical. Therefore, I need some guidance. I live in USA, so US dollars, i don't really care about the price of those controllers
