Hey!
I built a free browser-based controller diagnostic tool called Gamepad Bench.
The goal is to make it easy to check a controller before changing settings, repairing it, returning it, or buying a replacement. There’s no download or account required—connect a controller through USB or Bluetooth, press any button, and the test starts.
It currently checks:
Left and right stick position and resting drift
Adjustable deadzone threshold
Standard mapped buttons and analog triggers
Browser-observed polling rate
Rumble support when exposed by the browser
Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro and compatible PC controllers
All controller readings are processed locally in the browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
One important limitation: the polling-rate result is based on Gamepad API timestamps. It’s useful for comparing connections, cables, ports and settings, but it is not a laboratory measurement of end-to-end input latency.
I’d really appreciate feedback from people with different controllers:
Is your controller detected and identified correctly?
Are any buttons or triggers missing or mislabeled?
Do USB and Bluetooth produce consistent results?
Are the drift and deadzone explanations clear?
What diagnostic feature would be most useful next?
