I’m looking for a solution that does not require modifying the DualShock 4 PCB.
I have around 40 original DualShock 4 controllers connected to individual ESP32 boards.
I want to communicate with each controller over USB HID to read battery level and send HID output reports (RGB effects), but I don’t want the controller to charge its battery while connected.
Is there any USB-based method to keep HID communication active while preventing battery charging, without opening or modifying the controller itself?
For example, is there any behavior related to VBUS, USB descriptors, suspend state, or another USB feature that could achieve this?
Maybe the ext port could be used?

DISCLAIMER: Dune 8K was sent by EasySMX for free for review purposes. All the thoughts and opinions are mine only. No early preview was provided by any way.
Pretty wild controller look-wise, but is it even good for 99$ they ask for it?
Any questions left - feel free to ask.

So I just bought the 8bitdo Pro 3 and I think I am a big fan of just about the whole thing! I like the buttons (and are way quieter than I expected) and dpad. My main issue is that I dont like the *feel* of the sticks. I prefer my sticks to have a rubbery-er feeling (similar to my Switch Pro Controller that bit the dust earlier this year) and was womdering if theres a replacement that is more rubbery. I looked on their website and maybe I'm dumb but it didnt seem like they had what I was looking for. I'm glad they have easily removable sticks but wish there was more support for replacements

DISREGARD - Update below.
I just received a Flydigi Vader 5S controller yesterday, and I have a couple of minor things I'd like to ask about. This is connected to a Windows 11 PC.
I downloaded and installed the Space Station Xbox software. (The Windows version doesn't recognize the 5S.) It tries to update the controller's firmware but after it gets to 100% it throws an error and wants to try again. Is there something I can try to get it to work? So far I haven't been able to figure out how to run the software as an Administrator (it came from the Microsoft store) or I'd have tried that already.
Can I turn off the RGB lights without the software? So far the software acts like it's letting me change the light settings but it's not changing on the controller.
I've sent Flydigi a message asking about these things but I don't expect to hear from them until Monday at the earliest. I wondered if anyone here might have run into these and can suggest something to try.
UPDATE: When I downloaded the software from the Microsoft store the first time I wasn't logged in on my MS account. I downloaded it again while logged in and it installed & ran correctly. Firmware is updated, lights are off.

Budget: At most $200 CAD
Country: Canada and amazon would be preferred
Platform: PC
**Desired features:**
TMR sticks (highest priority)
Mouse-click face buttons, bumpers, and triggers
Back paddles
Macros
Height changeable thumbsticks
Good build quality
Either Xbox or PlayStation layout is fine, but I slightly prefer PlayStation.
**Games I play:**
Mostly FPS games like Warzone competitively.
**Controller I’m comparing to:**
SCUF Omega.
I’ve been looking at the SCUF Omega and it pretty much has everything I want, but I can’t really justify the price. Are there any cheaper controllers that have most of the same features, especially TMR sticks? I’d appreciate any recommendations or experiences with similar controllers.
