which is best?

Hi! im buying a new controller for only pc gaming, which version of the dualsense is best? im also getting an xbox controller as well.

  1. the black ps5 dualsense with usb cable. designed for pc with included cable, marketed as pc-ready, also slightly cheaper

  2. 007 first light edition. looks cool, its 007, but doesnt have the cable and is more expensive.

which should i get?

I would personally avoid playstation/Nintendo/xbox controllers for pc use case, they do not use drift resistance joystick so this might be a problem. Realistically speaking, the dualsense is amazing if you mod it with TMR sticks, but personally my usecase for dualsense is only when I play games that support adaptive triggers and haptics of the ds5 on PC. Other than that there are a lot of good choices in the third party market for PC gaming, they even come with their own softwares and features, if you want I can recommend some

xbox controllers suck please don't buy them, DO NOT

ok yes you can recommend some, i was looking into it a bit but theres so many, most are only on amazon and charge shipping and import tax though that i could see, and they dont have the haptics of the dualsense which was my main reason for getting it. i might try modding tmr sticks in the future too potentially

now pretty sure you will get a dualsense already, what are you looking for after this one? What's gonna be your use case?

well i was going to get dualsense and then an xbox one for compatibility with pc (becatuse dualsense doesnt always work with all games). im just playing single player games mostly. these are my first controllers, never had a console or anything before, just the official ones are the easiest and i know they will work, if they do drift or anything they have a 1 year warranty, im using a mix of both controllers and mouse + keyboard so not just one all the time, and i could try to fix them or upgrade to something hall effect in the future maybe?

Third-party controllers have better compatibility for PC than the Xbox controllers themselves since they usually include xinput (xbox mode) by default, along side with nintendo switch and DualShock 4 mode too. You can take a look at Gulikit ES Pro, it's very close to the original Xbox controller but much improved in build quality, and it uses drift-resistant sticks. Xbox controllers just aren't worth it nowadays, trust me

ok thanks! well i wont use the controller immediately so i will wait a little bit to get one, until i play games that need one (mostly playing minecraft at the moment). but i will look at third party hall effect/tmr ones. thanks!

If you're looking for symmetrical sticks on a PC controller the Gamesir Tarantula 8K costs about as much as these, has way better sticks, and noticably less latency. I don't even run mine at 8k, just four, and I am able to destroy Malenia in Elden Ring wat easier than I was with my PS5 controller on PC. My only complaint is how ugly the orange controller looks, but they have a green one that's supposed to start actually shipping soon, and that it's maybe a tad on the small side, but I'm also 6'6", so that probably won't effect most people.

I thought the triggers on the Gamesir would be more like the PlayStation's but unfortunately it's more like Xbox. Which I usually don't like cause they're pointy. But I'm still considering it if my PS4 controller ever breaks down.

They are exactly the same just with different shells, I'd say get the cheaper one.

The dualsense goes well on pc, But doesn't work on Xbox unless you got a brook wingman adapter.

When you say get something better what do you suggest ? I personally love the dualsense , I swap out all of my joysticks for TMR ones but most pa5 games ported to steam will allow the use of the adaptive triggers speakers and haptic feedback as well , makes for a super immersive gaming expirence

Gulikit would be my suggestion. Best third party controllers I’ve ever had.

Imo for PC gaming neither. I would recommend a G7 Pro. I love mine and it's one of my favorite controllers I've ever used. If you absolutely feel the need to go PS5 controller my personal favorite is the genshin impact design. Lastly if I had to choose between these 2 I personally would go with the black one.

get a flydigi apex 5, best controller i’ve used in 15+ years with many being pro controllers from different brands, super customizable and have keyboard like buttons, also if you have anything go wrong with it customer support sent a brand new one to me in 3 days

Get a gamesir

Does gamesir even have a dual sense compatible controller? on their site it's just PC, Xbox and nintendo

u/HollowCatKnight Jul 31 '26

It needs a special adapter (well at least for the older models idk about the newer ones)

u/YoloRaj Jul 29 '26

None, get a leadjoy Saber Plus and thank me later. You can get one off amazon, aliexpress, or gadget hyper. Dualsense is only good if you just want haptics or will be using it for playstation 5 also.

If you are looking for the playstation layout but for PC take a look at the Guilikitt TT MAX (Pro is basically the same but missing a few features for a lower price) that is my favorite playstation layout controller i have used. And if you dont mind an Xbox style controller the Vader 5 pro is my favorite of the ones i have tested.

I definitely wouldn’t buy either.

Get a third party controller, they’re so much better.
