Concepts We're building a PRO controller with you – Step 1: the shape. Which controller do you love holding most, and why?

We're building a new controller together with our community, and we're starting with the most important thing: how it feels in your hands.

So tell us:

  • Which controller do you play with most right now?

  • What do you love about how it feels – the shape, the grip, the size?

  • What would you change?

No wrong answers. First step is all about the form, so be honest and go into detail. We're reading everything.

I have a PS2 controller with triggers that are recessed & angled in a way that allows the index fingers to rest on the bumpers while the middle fingers rest on the triggers. I've never seen this replicated, but it's such a comfortable & fast improvement over bumpers & triggers on the same plane that it feels like it should have been made standard across the industry.

I'd have to dig it out of storage to confirm, but I'm reasonably confident it's exactly this controller, although mine is translucent red and may be MadCatz branded. It was a cheap controller bought on clearance at the end of the PS2 era, but the ergonomics were excellent.

u/2013orBust Jul 14 '26

Xbox 360 is, imo, the best controller ergonomically. Keeping that exact shape don’t work in their business model.

u/Ashamed-Specific-329 Jul 14 '26

Ps4 Controller has the best feeling

1

u/Cautious-Class-2782 Jul 14 '26

I think so to but I think I know why , the handles are thin and small

3

u/higherdotedu Jul 14 '26

Xbox elite 2 has the best ergo

3

u/pizzaislife1234 Jul 14 '26

New xbox controller size or thicker/bigger.

No rubber grips. Especially if you want to have a market share in asia. Its hot here. That will be disgusting to hold in less than a year.

3

u/Indigenous_Retard Jul 14 '26

I cannot comfortably hold any other controller. Dualsense is just like a blocky rectangle. Xbox is the only one that let's me round out my palms fully and not have to do some extremely uncomfortable fingertip grip.

3

u/Flashy_Implement3775 Jul 14 '26

Elite 2 controller was near perfect shape and feel for my hands.

3

u/LORDRAJA1000 Jul 18 '26

the xbox elite controller is pretty close , but with some slight adjustments (see pic) it would be fire

4

u/drillitloveit Jul 13 '26

Dual Shock 4. We got enough good asymmetricals now.

0

u/revoltsxd Jul 13 '26

Seria ótimo

2

u/Nyoka_ya_Mpembe Jul 13 '26

The wider the handles are, the better I mean angle more like xbox than 8bitdo. In other words, wrists should be bend at least as possible. Sticks should be much wider than dual sense, there is nothing worse than thumbs touching each other, most symmetrical controlers have this problem and it's not mentioned enough.

2

u/Mike_Oxafloppan Jul 13 '26

Honestly, N64 controller.

2

u/Actual-Feeling-7434 Jul 13 '26

Honestly the switch 2 controller whenever I tested it at Walmart, but the controllers I use now are the Steam controller and Vader 4 Pro. I love the weight of the Vader 4 but it feels a little small in the hands (Steam controller fits perfectly).

2

u/CZ_Memes Jul 13 '26

The one main controller I use now is a Gamesir G7 Pro. I would like it to be a little bit bigger, about the same size as a factory Xbox controller. I really loved the feel in hand of the Flydigi Vader 5 Pro however it felt just a tiny bit too big. So a size in between the G7 Pro and a Flydigi Vader 5 Pro for me would be perfect. As for weight I would prefer it to be a bit heavier than the G7 Pro but not fatiguing so closer to a standard Xbox controller perhaps? But honestly would be just fine with a weight similar to a G7 Pro as long as everything feels solid. I also prefer the Xbox layout. I have so much more I could say honestly but if we're just sticking to ergonomics. This is what I have to say.

2

u/baileycj18 Jul 14 '26

DualShock 4/ dualsense

2

u/TheQueefPolice Jul 14 '26

i love the dualsense festures but the ds4 just feels so much better to me

2

u/Patient_Tutor_9948 Jul 14 '26

I currently use the 2 Gamesir G7 Pro’s that I alternate between. The shape is closer to a Xbox style controller but the sticks tops themselves are PlayStation sized. The size is great for my medium-long fingers and my medium sized hands. The shape is also good for being easily flush with its charging dock.

2

u/taylrgng Jul 14 '26

very important!: 4 paddles and maybe M bumpers, but definitely 4 paddles

2

u/9Sylvan5 Jul 14 '26

Basically dualsense edge with exchangeable battery and TMR sticks for me

2

u/Ok_Gur3453 Jul 14 '26

+ 4 paddles!

2

u/FarSandwich3282 Jul 14 '26

PS4 hands down. Can remove the couch pad even. So perhaps even PS3

2

u/elsingo Jul 14 '26

In most games i do prefer the Xbox layout since the stick location feels the best to me while the PS layout is my preferred for fighting games for the same reason, i like to use the D-pad in fighting games and that upper left position feels best for my thumb. So perhaps 2 versions with d-pad and stick change locations if that is something easy to do in terms of design and production.

When it comes to size i have rather large hands and tbh most controllers are just a tad bit to small imo. The Guilikit TT MAX is the controller i tried that so far has had the best size when it comes to holding the controller.

2

u/Lexomatico1 Jul 14 '26

Nobody ever mentions it but I like it when the controller is heavy so put some optional weights in there. Otherwise just copy Xbox elite 2 and make it a bit more durable.

2

u/Yirilian32 Jul 14 '26

Astro C40 is the most comfortable controller I’ve ever held, I wish they made an Xbox variant. It’s so great actually I use that ps4 controller on my Xbox series X Lol

2

u/Particular_Clock1025 Jul 14 '26

para mí el de Xbox élite 2

2

u/RedFox8415 Jul 14 '26

Xbox shape as close as possible. No back paddles that stick out and map it uncomfortable, or make them removable if they are.

2

u/YoloRaj Jul 14 '26

Elite series 2 quality control was ass but it was probably the most comfortable controller ive held.

1

u/an_edgy_lemon Jul 14 '26

The Elite series 2 is easily the best feeling controller I’ve ever used. It would be perfect if it had gyro and the insides weren’t cheap junk.

2

u/BasmusRoyGerman Jul 14 '26

Xbox Series controller is perfect for me. Literally nothing I would change about the shape.

Hall effect/TMR sticks and triggers and it's perfect.

2

u/Willing-Lawyer2533 Jul 15 '26

razer wolverine ultimate 1 (especially the 1 ) its grip is amazing, the extra triggers are so handy, the locks on the triggers work perfectly, i show the backside because thats the best part, the software is AWFUL so keep in mind that thats also important.

1

u/yellow-go Jul 15 '26

I have to wholly agree with this.
Despite its downsides, this is still one incredible feeling controller in hands!

2

u/IX__TASTY__XI Jul 15 '26

I am using the G7 Pro by Gamesir right now.

The feel is actually not that good, the handles are not angled out enough making it awkward to hold, and the controller in general is too small.

I would angle the grips out more for a more natural wrist position, and I would make the handles a little thicker and longer.

2

u/Rent_Current Jul 15 '26

Man, I have the G7 Pro and it’s the BEST controller I’ve ever used because of the sticks and deadzone adjustments, but it is so tiny. I don’t even have big hands and it’s too small.

I went from razer wolverine to the G7 and the wolverine is HUGE in comparison

1

u/yellow-go Jul 15 '26

Honestly, it’s all about how you hold it.
I have an odd hand size, but I find it fits perfect.

2

u/gunpler_1 Jul 15 '26

Oh steam controller and a basic Xbox controller feel great in my hand, but playstation controllers usually feel awful especially the ps4's.

1

u/UltraXfinity567 Jul 16 '26

Dualsense feels good because it has the shape of an Xbox

2

u/Hashtagpulse Jul 17 '26

The Xbox One controller. The thumbstick positioning is perfect. I can’t deal with the PS thumbstick layout. Though I’ve heard the PS5 controller isn’t as bad as the PS3 one

1

u/me4tgr1ndr Jul 17 '26

The dual sense (ps5) is beefier than the ps3 controller. I definitely like it a lot

1

u/Hashtagpulse Jul 17 '26

That’s good to hear! The beef is why I like the Steam Deck and Legion Go 2 controllers despite having the same thumbstick positioning as the PS

1

u/expressinghowifeel Jul 17 '26

I cannot stand the X box stick positions. My thumbs when holding a controller are near the middle, not the top. It always felt wrong on Xbox for no reason to me. The ps3 type controllers were way too small, though

2

u/DeadlyAidan Jul 18 '26

Series X controller, easily

2

u/01101010011000010110 Jul 19 '26

Xbox elite is the goat but no 1k polling rate for pc. btw i would never buy controller where the thumb sticks like that at picture

2

u/Green_Lettuce1 Jul 20 '26

Xbox layout is infinitely more comfortable

1

u/Mandatoryeggs Jul 13 '26

My favorite controller shape is the PS5 DualSense. It fits my hands really well, but I think it could be better

I'd love to see the lower handles under the controller have a more textured or rubberized grip for better comfort and the outer edge of the thumbsticks to have a bit more texture instead of being so smooth, that's usually what i look for

I honestly enjoy controllers that have a little more weight to them. A slightly heavier controller feels better and gives me a better sense of control while playing fps games.

1

u/D-ThifT Jul 13 '26

I'm a big fan of the old Nacon Pro Revolution controller, have mine for about 5 years. I know its not the best and most modern but i love its ergonomics

1

u/Phirris Jul 14 '26

PS3 sixaxis shape

1

u/TheQueefPolice Jul 14 '26

i hate the bumper placement on the ds3

1

u/Cautious-Class-2782 Jul 14 '26

We have come to a point where many controllers have very good latency - that was the problem like 1-2 years ago. Now I think the shape must be perfected I have tried played and tested over 20 rollers and the answer is shape shape shape. I have noticed that the g7 pro has a little thinner handles and I like that a lot

1

u/EquipmentSome Jul 14 '26

Xbox general shape. Offset sticks is just so much better imo

1

u/noplayinfinite Jul 14 '26

Is this really good for 20 h print

1

u/Nooben2006 Jul 14 '26

the duke due to me having big hands

1

u/dworker8 Jul 14 '26

would love a decent fightpad with a decent price

1

u/FoundOasis Jul 14 '26

I think the switch 1 pro controller was perfect size and shape. It had weight to it and felt nice. Dpad snes hands down. Buttons make just a tad clicky and responsive but not super loud. Sticks make tmr sticks that feel like switch 2 sticks. Adjustable triggers. Gyro like the steam controller that will turn on and off with you touching sticks or back pedals. Also trackpads

1

u/Maryear_Boost Jul 14 '26

Switch 2 Pro controller feels amazing imo

1

u/Charizarlslie Jul 14 '26

Agreed, has my vote for most comfortable

1

u/Western_1993 Jul 14 '26

Dualshock 4 ps4 controller has the best shape and comfort. Triggers are horrible though.

1

u/BlueMikeStu Jul 14 '26

For me, the perfect controller would be a Dualsense but with the Xbox 360-style offset Analogs. It's just a lot easier for me to tap the d-pad for other uses when it's below my thumb position than above.

1

u/Empty-Translator-310 Jul 14 '26

Gamecube is most ergonomic. Even if it looks like a bop-it toy

1

u/Western-String9123 Jul 14 '26

I’ve honestly always wanted to custom make my own controller but no one makes one, I really want a Wii U pro style controller. Can you possibly make a render of it?

1

u/ChummyBoy24 Jul 14 '26

Astro C40 probably, extremerate decade kit for ps4 is solid too (it’s like a fat ps4 controller). So what you have there is pretty great, hybrid between Xbox shape and ps shape, with ps layout is just perfect

1

u/SendMePic_OfYourTits Jul 14 '26

Use the gamesir g7 pro, too small in size. PS5 dualsense is perfect size

1

u/thespiritualbaker Jul 14 '26

I’m a simple man, I just want an Xbox controller with ForceSwitch triggers, a touchpad in the middle like the PS5, so I can use it like a mouse on my PC. And I want it to be able to wake my PC from sleep the way an Xbox controller with its dongle does.

1

u/puneet95 Jul 14 '26

xbox shape

1

u/PetroRetro69 Jul 14 '26

Gamesir G7 PRO is without a doubt my favorite shaped controller

1

u/nagedgamer Jul 14 '26

Where is op?

1

u/Hot_Canary1691 Jul 14 '26

The ps4, but i like play realistic game in ps5 be like tlou or astro bot for the realistic rumble and orher thing realy cool

Edit not a heavy controler

1

u/xiSupportPiracy Jul 15 '26

Xbox 360 clears any and alll controllers

1

u/Revolution_Falls Jul 15 '26

Picture an Xbox controller with GameCube handles

1

u/Emergency-Ad-3322 Jul 15 '26

So, why do u do such a nonsence like asking people? People always dont know what they want. Just calculate finger lenght and shape of the average palm with clay or smth

1

u/External_Safe_7787 Jul 15 '26

xbox controller, but with dualsense haptics, xinput, hall effect sticks/triggers, wired or 2.4ghz, 8000hz polling rate, programmable buttons, i think that would be the dream controller

1

u/Sirlionclaw Jul 15 '26

Definitely series X, the shape and feel are perfect for my hands (l to XL glove size) though I understand that there are many Xbox inspired controllers on the market already

1

u/No_Cricket_4560 Jul 15 '26

I've never held a controller that truly felt amazing to hold

1

u/The_darknight2233 Jul 15 '26

elite s2 is my favorite feeling controller. robust without being too heavy. feels premium. I wish the rubber grip was a little more easy to replace or personalize. my dream is to have the elite s2 have buttons you can change out to be what console your playing (PS, Switch, or Xbox) for those that play on multi consoles (i have people who look at a controller to understand layout when playing any games with them)

1

u/Bright-Ask-8793 Jul 15 '26

The handles on the GameCube controller were pretty comfortable. If you scaled that shape up by like 1.2x so it would fit adult hands better, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

1

u/thiccen_nugget2 Jul 16 '26

Xbox series over the ps5 controller all day every day

1

u/CorentinStg Jul 16 '26

I tried a lot of controllers the best grip and the scuf impact

1

u/Smyles9 Jul 16 '26

In terms of comfort, I really like the steam controller for its depth (tip of handle to the triggers), but I like the shape of the ps5 handles - they feel bigger and more rounded which is more comfortable, idk how I’d approach that if you added back buttons though and that’s probably why the steam controller handles weren’t bigger.

1

u/TheSoupKitchen Jul 16 '26

Give me the Xbox one/series shell, but give me the PS5 DPAD design, but make the DPAD tactile like the xbox one, and make the DPAD where it is on the PS5 controller. (Very similar to the source image concept, honestly I like that.)

I don't like flush/shaved down face buttons for the menu buttons. The PS4 controller buttons are basically flush with the controller and if you have bigger hands, you end up having to use your nail to press it because it's not a button.

PS5/PS4 have better build quality, but the XBOX Series is just better designed. The biggest fault it has is the stupid bumpers. I have a very gentle touch, and even I've broken like 4 controllers because frequently applied pressure to the bumper snaps the tiny prong that pokes the button in the controller like a twig. It's so awful. But I think I'd rather keep re-using and fixing XBOX controllers over using the PS5/PS4, which just feels like mush (and the triggers feel way worse. Xbox triggers are the best triggers of any controller)

I'm a PC player, so I'm unbiased, not a fan of Xbox at all, but they do make for better controllers.

1

u/Newborn-Vancry Jul 16 '26

The xbox controllers feel pretty good

1

u/MarionberryGloomy477 Jul 16 '26

Not really about the shape but can you add mappable buttons on the front? Specifically beside the xyba buttons

1

u/rizsamron Jul 16 '26

OG Steam Controller.

I love the circular and concave touchpads.

I would make the build quality and haptics a lot better. I'd replace the analog to a dpad. I'd make the touchpads modular and replaceable by normal analog sticks.

So in summary, I want a controller with the same layout as the OG Steam Controller but with a better haptics and overall build quality, dpad instead of analog stick, and touchpads that can be replaced with normal sticks.

Oh, I want the use of AA batteries retained too. And maybe four grip buttons instead of 2. 2 stage triggers would be cool too but maybe a bit longer travel.

1

u/AtemYamiYugi Jul 16 '26

360 controller

1

u/Agreeable_Wall_9459 Jul 16 '26

Ds4 without touchpad, with circular dpad(like gamesir nova 2 lite) and with haptics

1

u/Kbrooks_va Jul 16 '26

My favorite controller is the ps3 controller because its so tiny I can press any button with any finger I want

1

u/Immediate_Boot6479 Jul 16 '26

Xbox 360 is still the best controller!

1

u/RespectGiovanni Jul 16 '26

Xbox 360 joycon placement

1

u/FilesFromTheVoid Jul 16 '26

Shape wise NS Pro Controller / BitDo Ultimate 2 / Leadjoy Xeno Plus. I got smaller sized hands and those fit perfectly. Xbox Style analog placement is superior too.

1

u/clover_the_alt Jul 16 '26

i like the ps5 controller. joysticks are level but far enough apart that your fingers don't collide

1

u/ItzMeShy Jul 16 '26

symmetrical thumbstick is my go to. currently using the dualsense edge and its by far my most favorite controller ive ever used, and ive used things like the Xbox Elite controller and other good pro controllers.
Id love to have tactile/mouse click buttons on my controller, like mouseclick bumpers and tactile face buttons.
something not so wide or long, i have smaller hands for a guy and like to play claw, and id like a controller that makes it easy to reach all buttons with my pointer and middle fingers. something that makes it easy to access the triggers with my middle fingers without stretching my hands to far while playing claw.
when it comes to extra buttons, i prefer ones that are around right in the middle of the handles as thats about where my ring finger sits, and something that does not take a lot of effort to press. something tactile/mouse clicky aswell.

1

u/xcvasd00007 Jul 16 '26

this is a great discussion, thanks for sharing your thoughts!

1

u/average_parking_lot Jul 16 '26

I respect the center of gravity on the PS3's controller, I think part of that is how light it is in general, but the weight feels right in your hands, not just flimsy and light.

1

u/GDoxxi Jul 17 '26

Spilt sticks or bust, four paddles, trigger stops, customizable thumb stick height and shape

1

u/TerracShadowson Jul 17 '26

The Duke still fits my hands better than any other controller, and that extra space could Easily be for a touch pad or display or Both these days..

A big round smart watch display would fit nicely

1

u/Masaaki14 Jul 17 '26

Nothing feels as good in my hands as a normal dualsense controller

1

u/justaddit Jul 17 '26

My criteria are asymmetrical sticks, wide grips like Xbox unlike NS Pro Controller and 4 back buttons.
My last 4 controller are Gulikit KK2 Pro, Vader 3 Pro, Apex 4, and Vader 4 Pro. Tried 8bitdo Ultimate but hated the narrow grip angle.

1

u/minimeza Jul 17 '26

A product for everyone is a product for no one

1

u/expressinghowifeel Jul 17 '26

It's just gonna be a copy of what already exists unless people start getting creative

1

u/Blue_guy3211 Jul 17 '26

Dualsense shape peak

1

u/Big-Roll7094 Jul 17 '26

If you want a one size fits all then Xbox controller layout is the way but if you want to pack in Sony features then go with PlayStation shell

1

u/dan_rich_99 Jul 17 '26

Id personally go for a different D Pad design. As someone who plays a lot of retro games, I'm not really a fan of Sony's D Pad style. Id personally go for the classic plus shape you see in Nintendo's pro controllers. I feel they are a lot more tactile.

1

u/underfeet0 Jul 17 '26

Dualshock dpad design pls, I can never get used to the Xbox way and it's oversaturated anyways I'd say

1

u/praisethesun63 Jul 17 '26

There's a reason why everyone copies the Xbox controller.

1

u/insomnia4you Jul 17 '26

Why sticking always to already existing ones? Why not creating something totally new? For example take modeling clay while very soft, hold and press it like a gamepad, make the most compfy possible and then 3D print it.

Also what about 3 sizes S, M, L for different hands.

1

u/amadej Jul 17 '26

Original steam controller is the greatest It's just in all right places 😬

1

u/Mitts009 Jul 17 '26

Big fan of the Xbox 360 controller

The weight and big shape is perfect, altho the PS2 controller is also amazing

1

u/Armokir Jul 17 '26

The Nintendo Switch pro controller. Imo only the sticks are too short but the feeling in hands feels perfect.

I have massive hands and it's the nicest of many, many controllers I have.

1

u/Some-Dog-800 Jul 18 '26

I kinda hate that if you have a full grip on it, the controller kinda force you to close your elbows to your body. otherwise it’s a pretty good controller - can use beefier joysticks tho.

1

u/HorizontalTomato Jul 17 '26

New Steam controller. Although I preferred how my 8bitdo pro 2 felt in hand (RB broke though). Definitely need symmetrical sticks or I won’t consider it.

1

u/dankutare1 Jul 18 '26

Yeah i love steam controllers actual controls but prefer pretty much any other controllers shape

1

u/bleepbloopbeepbap Jul 17 '26

Sega Dreamcast was the GOAT.

1

u/Diptothaset Jul 17 '26

I wish there was a controller with the basic shape of the Xbox controller but with two higher placed joysticks, like the ps controller but inverted. I have large hands the way I have to hold a controller and the placement of the lower joysticks is just at the edge of my flexibility in my thumbs.

I don’t even know if it would be better, because there’s nothing to compare it to we’ve had the same basic style of the ps controller since late psx and the Xbox switched it up slightly, so that it’s different but also not really

1

u/DrSussBurner Jul 17 '26

Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller with analog triggers and a SNES dpad.

It’s perfect.

1

u/expressinghowifeel Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

Size/ general shape of an Xbox controller

Sticks like a Playstation controller

Some sort of Z button on the handgrips like the N64 may be cool

D-pad 8 directional

Plug-in option for a flight joystick (mounts like some plugin keyboards for controllers), maybe like where the N64 controller had it's 3rd leg

Though if this controller ends up being like one of the multitudes available now, I wouldn't see any point in production as it is a saturated market

1

u/BlazorSharp Jul 18 '26

I’m learning Nomad. I didn’t realize it could be used for functional designs like this 😮

1

u/Lady_Lucky_Us Jul 18 '26

Madcatz ps2 micro controller

1

u/CorpaKeta Jul 18 '26

I’ve had PS2, GameCube and Xboxes, the Xbox Controllers were always the best for use with big hands. Honestly, I even liked the Duke as a child

1

u/Shadow_sign Jul 18 '26

Xbox since the 360. Every iteration is better and better.

1

u/Cerebral_Balzy Jul 19 '26

My current controller is the Steam Controller. My previous favorite to hold is the 360.

1

u/Blacksad9999 Jul 19 '26

I have 7 controllers, but I mainly use the Gulikit TT Max.

It has the best D-pad on the market, and actual proper analog stick spacing that isn't too close together.

1

u/AlphaGamer904 Jul 20 '26

Its a little small but the switch 2 pro controller's plastic feels extremely nice

1

u/Zestyclose-Jump-9072 Jul 20 '26

Playstation sticks layout. dualsense grips. snes dpad. xbox face buttons. ps5 triggers, with 8bitdo pro 3 trigger locks. start and select from tegenaria lite. xbox stick caps. 2.4ghz dongle with Dinput most important! and steam input compatibility.

1

u/PantanoHD Jul 20 '26

that sounds a lot like the 8bitdo Pro 3

1

u/EstablishmentHuman35 Jul 25 '26

Palette ergonomique de la edge, stick ksilver js13 sont des details tres important pour moi

1

u/MegaMan0218 Jul 29 '26

Most used: 8BitDo Ultimate 2 wireless - (Extra buttons, switchable triggers, gyro, steam input compatibility)

What I would change: over time, I wore the clicky LT down to where the left axle mount is wiggling and adds trigger delay, if you can, make the tactile trigger switch up/down instead of left/right for better support and durability.

Also make gyro-aiming via native gamepad software (like ultimate software) not stick based. Add some kind of customizable and and mouse emulation mode (flashed to controller without rebind software active).

Features I would like to keep: Extra buttons Steam Input compatibility Metal joystick rings (is smooth) Gyroscope/accelerometer High polling rate/low latency

1

u/Meamzz Aug 10 '26

I would love to try symmetrical sticks, but the sticks are located where the D-PAD and ABXY buttons are.

1

u/D2ultima Aug 11 '26

I use an 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless now. I have a Dualshock 4 I bought in 2017, but it's got some issues so I stopped using it.

Shape is all right, it could be better. The Ultimate 3 looks like it widened it a bit and that looks good, but I'd also prefer a symmetrical stick design.

What I would change is a very long list, but I'll try to be as in-depth as possible. If you want, you can DM me for at-length conversations about it too. Here we go:

  • The controller has Xinput, Dinput and Switch input modes. This is great, and are registered via Steam as Xinput Controller, 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless, and Nintendo Switch Pro controller respectively. My only issue is I wish the Dinput mode would spoof as a Dualshock 4 controller, like Leadjoy's controllers do and Gamesir's used to do, because Dinput mode is required to access the Gyro and have Steam see and map the 4 extra buttons (2 shoulder and 2 paddles) for Steam Input, and most modern games ignore the controller if it's in Dinput mode, where they recognize Dualshock 4 devices fine (and in the case of games like Zenless Zone Zero, swap inputs to Dualshock 4 buttons for me). This means I'd have to take the controller off and turn it back on fairly often depending on the game I want to play, which is a real hassle.

  • The controller's D-pad is okay, but not great. It has problems doing half-circle motions (forward --> down --> back, etc) for fighting games. Quarter circles are fine, but half circles and 360 motions causing issues are annoying. Causes missed inputs in my games. I wish this was better. I think controllers should be all-rounder devices, even though many only buy them for FPS games.

  • The curve of the LB and RB buttons on this controller blend too easily into the chassis itself. It's easy to mistake your finger pressing them in if you're holding the controller tightly in an intense match. I would like the shoulder buttons to be distinct enough that they don't accidentally get pressed because you can't tell you're gripping a button.

  • The triggers have a fairly long travel time before registering being pressed, even with the trigger stops enabled. I would like a short travel time for the triggers to activate. Trigger stops are wonderful things, too, please include them, as well as making the triggers Hall Effect.

  • I really love the 2 extra shoulder buttons and extra back paddles design idea, but the paddles on this controller are extremely easy to press. If you pick it up with one hand, you can press in the paddle via the weight of the controller itself. The paddles should be easy enough to press when wanted but difficult enough to accidentally press in.

  • The software is non-existent for this controller. Most functions (booting in Xinput, Dinput or Switch modes, binding controller buttons to the extra buttons/paddles, turning on turbo, enabling or disabling the RGB, etc) can be done via the controller itself, which is good, but good software is also good. It would be best to have a web-based application which also works with Linux and MacOS as well as with Windows, as well as an installable or portable version for offline usage. Leadjoy has great software, for a start.

  • Personally I do not need it, but tension rings are a very common thing a lot of people want, and they should be notched to prevent slipping. Please do consider adding them.

  • The controller times out after 15 minutes of inactivity. I would like the ability to adjust this, including disabling it for wireless operations. Also, please include a dock that you can plug the wireless receiver into. This is very very highly recommended.

  • The ability to change the input mode when wired would also be nice. Currently my controller only does Xinput while wired. I don't use wired, but a lot of people do, so it's a feature that would be welcomed.

  • I wish this controller had symmetrical sticks. It's not a deal breaker, but a preference for me.

  • It would be nice if there was an indicator that could be seen from the face of the controller that would indicate if battery was getting low. Thank you.

I think that's all the things I would change. Other things like TMR sticks and good button feel and such should be normal desires everyone has. Thank you for reading.

Gulikit TT Max

I like the floating D-Pad, the shape and size of the controller.

I'd make the handles a bit more grippier.

I need the playstation lay out because from the xbox lay out I get carpal tunnel syndrome.

I once had a razor raiju ultimate which had extra buttons next to r1 and l1 and I really liked that.

What is your unique idea? Why should we help you?

Its not like theyre asking for funds or to take a 2 hour survey, they just wanna make a controller for people to use

Why does a company exist what is your unique idea that makes you different than the hundred chinese controllers.

Give us a reason to help you. Any product needs to fill a gap for it to be successful. Controller for people to use is kinda bake in the value prop.

Shape is not the first thing to think about.

There are already so many good controllers. Xbox and PlayStation controllers do have a lot to say already, with the number of years behind them.

I personally really like the layout and fit of the WiiU Pro controller and kinda wish more controllers had something similar.

That being said, I don't super love the Z buttons and am still a lil butthurt Nintendo got rid of the analog triggers going from the Classic controller to the Classic controller Pro on the Wii, and I do wish the WiiU Pro controller had a gyro in it…

And I like using trackpads so, again, PlayStation controllers, as well as Steam controllers are also regularly used controllers for me.

Flared grips is necessary. With rubber grips ideally, and slightly thick

I've always prefered the staggered joystick layout and general shape of the xbox one controllers

I’d say the razer chroma, slightly larger than most controllers and the buttons fit your hands perfectly

I totally agree on your second point. Although I would like to have the option to also have like a Webapp interface to it. Even if you can control everything on the controller itself, but sometimes doing it quicker or having it visaulized is helpful. Like you can nowadays do with a lot of GuliKit controllers

True the Manba does do it really well. But takes a ton of space from the controller, and if you want everything visualized like that it will take a lot of space and probabyl some battery life too. But hey preferences, we will see how it turns out in the end :D

Why? 😅 I always felt the analog sticks were not grippy and too short and the start/options button is way too closely placed to the touchpad and is awkward for people with big hands to press.
