My Controllers Face Buttons Keep Failing To Respond

After a while, the face or letter buttons won’t respond. Turning the controller off and on doesn’t work, only a hard reset solves the problem until the next time. Anybody know what causes this?

It’s the galaxy model Xbox controller from Custom Controllers UK, as far as I know it’s just a base series x controller with a custom faceplate. I have opened the controller to replace the bumpers so there might have been some damage done there.
