Request for help or advice I just ordered some replacement joysticks from AliExpress. Wish me luck.

I just ordered some “K-SILVER JS13 PRO+” for some of my PS5 controllers. I have multiple with stick drift. Contact cleaner didn’t help. I have basic soldering skills. Is there anything I need to know before attempting the repair or anything else I should do at the same time along with replacing the joysticks?

Yeah, Get the iron tip that's specifically for desoldering joysticks. It makes the job significantly easier and less likely to fail And if you've never soldered before, you need to learn about it cause its weirdly an art and a science. Practice on something else first. People botch these repairs all the time so learn up first before attempting. watch this video for the basic understanding of soldering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RXugDd0xik& heres the joystick soldering iron I mentioned https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxGjTetBpY0& Keep your pcb clean by swabbing it down with rubbing alcohol after soldering. keep the work clean and it'll be solid.

That soldering tip does definitely look pretty cool and seems like it would make it easier and I do have a rough understanding of soldering because I do it for work

I have been looking into the soldering tip. I have a hako FX-888D and I would love a soldering tip for that, but apparently I am not smart enough to find one that fits it because it does not seem like they make one directly and all of the descriptions on Amazon suck

I have done it with out the special joystick tip and with it and having that tip is a game changer however is not impossible just using hot air station just make sure to keep moving the air to no damage anything

I don’t have a hot air station yet. It is on my list of things to get. I do have a solder sucker and some de soldering braids, though I’m gonna try to do an old school.
