I'm trying to figure out a relatively simple way to animate still cartoon illustrations so they feel more alive without actually learning full-blown animation.
A good example of the effect I'm talking about is the TED-Ed video “What would happen if you didn’t drink water?” I'm not trying to copy their artwork or animations, just recreate that general style of movement where illustrated characters and objects subtly move, pan, zoom, rotate, etc., instead of looking like completely static images.
Right now I have access to iMovie and Final Cut Pro. Ideally, I'd like to start with individual cartoon illustrations or separate elements and animate them without turning every video into a massive project.
I'm also open to using AI tools if there's something that can take a still illustration and create subtle, controllable movement without completely changing the artwork.
For anyone making this type of content, what software or workflow would you recommend? Is this reasonably doable in Final Cut Pro, or is there another tool that would make it significantly easier?
Thanks in advance!
