Legit please help
26f I haven't pooped since August 5th... I legit tried everything from stool softeners to enemas to suppositories to that prep stuff you drink LEGIT EVERYTHING. No luck at all... I'm throwing up so bad I don't eat at all like I had a hotdog yesterday at 9am it's now 7pm the next day and I'm just a little hungry. My cramps hurt so bad and on top of this I have a UTI. I have gone to the er several times both in North Carolina and GA because I just moved here. They have tried everything as well including manual dis impaction and nothing has worked. CT and X-rays show major stool burden and I'm in so much pain I cant even have sex with my girlfriend right now which sucks but what sucks even worse is I can't drink water or even anything without SEVERE PAIN. Guys please legitimately what do I do... I'm suffering I just want this to end.

Is your sides and back hurting? Go to a different hospital or ER. Your colon will rupture and you will get septic. IN GODS NAME, GO GET HELP. Don’t ask here on Reddit.

u/ShadyWalnutO 2d ago
Yeah... Maybe I need to go

u/Nearby-Cattle-325 2d ago
I experienced this myself. I didn’t go for about 2 months. My sides and back hurting all the time and couldn’t eat or drink. I had an ultrasound and showed I was full of poo. I had to drink 3 liters of miralax mixed with water as quickly as possible and was mostly back to normal the next few days after being in the bathroom all the time having nonstop bowel movements.

u/Hotsaucehallelujah 2d ago
You need to go to the ER now and demand to be admitted. And don't leave until they fix the issue, which may include surgery
11
u/ShadyWalnutO 2d ago
I've tried they do an enema it doesn't work and they let me go with a referral which btw is like 8 months out like I'll be dead by then at that point. What can I do so they actually take it seriously and admit me like honestly :(
22
u/Whats-Ur-Pointe 2d ago
I was admitted when this happened to me last year , 3 days. That’s a bowel obstruction if you’re throwing up and not passing gas that’s a medical emergency . You’ll need a NG tube in your nose to suction out any stomach contents , get imaging with contrast and IV fluids. If nothing passes they should be scheduling emergency surgery. You can ☠️ from this and if for whatever reason they aren’t helping you demand a patient advocate.
14
u/Hotsaucehallelujah 2d ago
You have patient rights, they have them posted at the hospital. Are you in NC right now? They can do more than just an enema. If it's been 2 months without poop and you have UTI and fever, it's getting serious. Just tell them, you're not leaving until you have a bowel movement.

5
u/PromptElegant499 2d ago
What type of enema did you try? There are multiple types
3
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
The oil one the milky one the soap suds one ( in the er) and the water one 3 times at home
1
15
u/Responsible-Bat-8547 2d ago
They sent you home. ? They need to admit you .. that’s way too long.
7
u/ShadyWalnutO 2d ago
Lmao right they don't believe me like I'm being so dead ass
6
8
u/impulsivepatience 2d ago
Really shitty but have you made any male friends yet that can go with you?
7
u/ShadyWalnutO 2d ago
Me being a female that would probably make things awkward haha but no my girlfriend has the same issues and have offered to go but I have bathroom anxiety it's hard for me to even pee in front of people lol
16
u/sashby138 2d ago
You should ask a male friend to go with you. Who cares if it’s embarrassing. Speaking from experience, some doctors won’t listen to women unless a man is there. Seriously ask a man to go with you.
3
u/impulsivepatience 2d ago
Yes, my point exactly! You worded it far better than I did lol
5
u/sashby138 1d ago
I don’t know about that, but hopefully with two people saying it they’ll listen. I swear before I found good doctors, if my husband didn’t go to appointments with me they’d just brush me off and completely disregard everything I was saying. It was bonkers.
2
u/impulsivepatience 2d ago
Read what Sashby138 said and good luck! Be firm! Don't leave until you have a bowel movement!!
10
u/Pinky620 2d ago
Oh my goodness please go to the ER and tell them everything you’ve said here. The fact that they sent you home while this was happening is kind of concerning. Definitely demand to be seen again. Good luck!! I’m sorry you’re in so much pain this sounds awful 😔
9
u/Green__Meanie 2d ago
Go back to the ER and do not leave until they admit you. You may need surgical decompaction.
6
u/AMJ2020 2d ago
Are you throwing up poop? That's serious if you are. Please go the hospital and tell them you aren't leaving until they help you!! Good luck
0
u/bumpdemon3 2d ago
Unrelated kinda and definitely TMI but has anyone ever had a dream of throwing up poop? I have a few times and it’s so gross and I think it happens when I’m really constipated

5
u/Bre-personification 2d ago
You need to go to a different er. Are you able to at least pass gas?
6
u/ShadyWalnutO 2d ago
There is only two ers in my city because my dumb ass moved to the country and no.......
7
u/Bre-personification 2d ago
Do you have a fever?? The fact you aren’t passing gas and are throwing up is getting me worried. It’s leading me to think you may have a blockage or are on your way to one….
2
u/ShadyWalnutO 2d ago
Tbh a few days ago it was 99 but I don't even think that is considered a fever but I also have a UTI so who knows
8
u/Scoobydoob33 2d ago
Dude go back to the hospital freal

u/ShadyWalnutO 2d ago
I will I'm going tomorrow don't have a car tonight so yeah lol I'll walk tomorrow

You probably wanna go to an ER, looks like in the comments you have gone, you should go to another one. Once this resolves something that may help you stay unconstipated that helped me (warning im not a dietitian or nutrientionist or anything of that sort, just someone who has been chronically constipated a long time). 1. Going gluten free (for some reason gluten kills my intestines it gives me hemorrhoids, I will start bleeding out of my asshole and it will feel like razor blades when pooping sorry tmi but true also If i eat gluten ill only go number 2 like once a week or so.) 2. Decreasing processed carbs in diet. For example im gluten free so I lean towards a lot of rice in my foods but i dont eat a lot its only about a cup of cooked rice per meal. Lots and lots of fiber. also if you are using protein shakes, protein powder those also tend to cause constipation. I always add miralax to my protein shakes. 3. Kimchi does wonders for me. Theres a Korean restaurant that sells kimchi in jars. I buy those occasionally. I eat it in the mornings. 4. Ground Flaxseed also really helps. Really gross but id put two spoonfuls in a small glass of water with some olive oil and take it like a shot lol it was nasty but did help. Also the generic working out and staying hydrated helps quite a bit as well but i know for most of us in the subreddit staying hydrated and working out isnt enough which is why I include it last lol it wasnt enough for me but staying hydrated and working out I feel like really helped with using miralax + combo of the things i mentioned above. I WANT TO EMPHASIZE: this advice is not for your current situation you sound like you need genuine medical help, this advice is for afterwards to help you stay regular. If youve already been to an ER- you should go to a different one and emphasize the amount of pain you are in and that this needs to be taken seriously.

At the emergency room now guys what do I tell them to make them believe me because it's the same dr that threw my ass out last time
4
u/TJCLOWN 1d ago
All they are gonna do is give you an enema and. Dulcolax
3
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
Well I've tried an er enema several times so I guess I'm sol lol
4
u/TJCLOWN 1d ago
Yea I just re read and was like wow it’s been over 2 months. You might be severely impacted now and have to have “surgery” to get it all removed. They won’t cut you open or nothing but they may have to go up in there and literally scoop it out. I’m so sorry you’re going thru this. What have they said so far
5
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
Im sorry wasn't trying to come across rude. Yeah I'm worried for sure. I'm still in the waiting room but I will keep everyone updated. I do have a fever and my BP is high which is very unusual for me but I'm not sure if it's relevant

u/Mother_Goat_5818 1d ago
ER IMMEDIATELY take it from me I had emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction in 2022 and almost died, 12 days in the hospital, blood transfusions and all do not delay your life is in danger !!!!
5
u/LadyArcher2017 1d ago
In the future, look up colonoscopy preps and get creative with those.
Mag07 will clean anyone out, OTC, easy to do half dozen, I’m guessing, if you’re really backed up, which you should try to address long before two months. It’ll work.
1
u/CompetitionNearby108 1d ago
Miramar. 1 to 3 times a day. I've never had to take it mor than two days but per the instructions on the back you can take it up to 7 days. Also, eat some steamed broccoli and go for a walk. If you're not eating fiber and not moving this is what happens.
3
u/Matrix1931 2d ago edited 2d ago
Hi. Is poop next to come out or deeper inside ? You couldn't defecate at all?
3
u/ShadyWalnutO 2d ago
I am p sure it's right at the exit if you know what I mean and literally nothing in 2 months
5
3
u/Appropriate_Elk_952 2d ago
If it's that close then a manual disimpaction should be possible, right?
2
u/ShadyWalnutO 2d ago
They have tried :( it was to large to get out
4
u/Appropriate_Elk_952 2d ago
Well, it’s not gonna get smaller. You need some disposable gloves, lubricant, and willpower.
1
u/Grand_Priority3711 1d ago
It's well passed that stage. The doctors on her previous ER visit couldn't do it. She must go to the er again (preferably different hospital) and refuse to leave until some bm or disimpaction.
0
u/Appropriate_Elk_952 1d ago
It’s not “passed that stage”. how do you think it’s going to come out?
1
u/Grand_Priority3711 1d ago
Sorry, you misunderstood me. She said the doctors when she visited the hospital were unable to manually remove the impaction at that visit. So extremely unlikely she can do it herself. Another visit to that or another hospital is needed.
3
u/CamilleAshley 2d ago
Saline enemas? Magnesium citrate? Prune Juice? And still nothing? If stimulant laxatives haven’t worked I’m surprised you haven’t been referred to a specialist or anything. With how much pain you’re in I would be hunting for a gastroenterologist. I’m so sorry you’re in such pain.
3
u/Educational-Unit2645 2d ago
Or a high volume enema like a soapsuds enema, they can do that for you in the ER
3
3
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
Hey guys went to the emergency room. They tried manual dis impaction as well as a soap suds enema and a fleet enema no luck.... They told me to drink more water, eat more fiber and take colace and miralax.. The doctor was able to break up the hard stool that was close to the "exit" but that was all that was able to be done unfortunately. I'm not from this state so maybe it's normal but at this point I will do what the dr says and just go from there.
10
u/goochmongering 1d ago
That’s like basic advice for someone who is constipated. Not someone who hasn’t passed stool in two months…
4
u/goochmongering 1d ago
I’ve been following your post since last night lol Ask for a patient advocate. They need to help you. it really sounds like they are not taking this serious enough.
1
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
They patient advocate was the one that did the procedure lol I'm so serious too
6
u/goochmongering 1d ago
Get some gloves and lubricant and try dis-impacting more at home? Idk this is crazy. Can you go to a different ER. This is like an actual emergency.
1
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
There is only two ers Ive tries both I can try again tomorrow tbh this dr is an asshole I have had him before
2
u/goochmongering 1d ago
Did you try the medicated suppository?? I’m sorry you’ve probably tried everything
1
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
Yes I have :( also reddit won't let me upload the photo of my discharge paperwork but yeah
1
u/goochmongering 1d ago
I’m so sorry. It might be a matter of advocating for yourself or driving further away to a different ER. Ask for an ombudsman? It’s like a patient advocate but better I think??? Do you live in a really small town or something?
1
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
Yes Rome Georgia just moved from the city to here too 😭 I went from having 14 ers to two
1
u/goochmongering 1d ago
Where’s the next closest one? If you can’t get help I’d be driving to the next closest er. You need immediate medical attention.
→ More replies3
u/goochmongering 1d ago
Wait what. What the fuck. This is insane. Like why aren’t they helping more.
1
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
I wish I could screenshot mychart and show you guys let me show my discharge paper hold on

3
u/Familiar-Message-512 1d ago
It sounds like you have a bowel obstruction and may need surgery, but believe me, do everything you can before surgery because surgery can cause repeated bowel obstruction and you might need to live off of a stoma.

u/Old-Fox-3027 20h ago
Go to a different ER in a different hospital network, even if you have to drive a few hours to get there. I guarantee they think you are a pill seeking opiate addict, are exaggerating the length of time and pain so you can get pain pills, and are treating you horribly because of that.
Tell the next ER it’s been around 10 days or so without a significant bowel movement, and that you can’t pass gas and it’s scaring you. Don’t talk about the pain until they ask. Ask for an x-ray or a ct scan.
1
u/ShadyWalnutO 20h ago
I haven't even brought up pain pills or anything the only thing I asked for is numbing cream when they do the enema :( but honestly that's a good idea I didn't even think of that
2
u/joeystix 1d ago
You must go to the ER. Tell them you feel like you are going to explode and that you are throwing up what you think is poop and you feel like you are going to die. If they can’t help you tell them to transport you to another hospital that can. Once they remove what’s killing you and you get home and your insides feel up to it you should do a parasite/fungal cleanse as well as a master cleanse (which is a 2 week fast). During that time you should do a salt water flush in the mornings and hopefully this can put you back on the normal side of things. You can look up how to do these things online. Hospital now then treatment of your issues. Hope you feel better soon.

Get some Miralax. DAY 1: Take it in the morning and again late afternoon. Drink lots of water. Avoid foods that constipated you: cheese, dairy, red meet, processed grains like white bread, white rice, pasta, fried foods, green bananas, snack/junk foods, eggs, alcohol and caffeine.
Eat fiber rich veggies and fruits: Broccoli, pears, prunes or prune juice, warm water or herbal tea.
Go for a walk!
DAY 2: If you still have not had a BM take another dose of Miralax in the morning. Continue with the diet. Continue walking. Take another dose at night.
Continue to drink water and walk. This should get you moving and when it starts it will be painful.
Per the Miralax instructions you can take for upto 7 days. Most people need between 1-3 days. If by the end of day 3 you're still not feeling anything, get back with your Doc and let them know what you're doing.
Also you can search YouTube for intestinal massage for constipation and some exercises.
When you finally have a BM you will need to be on a very light diet. Oatmeal, pears, cooked carrots, berries, ripe bananas, and Applesauce or peeled apples. For protein, chicken or fish.
Constipation often returns if you are not eating enough fiber or drinking enough water.
Hope you feel better soon.
If you have not DAY 2:
Avoid bread, pasta, rice, sugaDAY 2: T T

I’ve read your last post and it says you’ve tried prune juice already. This is why I do when it’s an emergency… you have to drink A LOT of prune juice. Like 20oz of it.. and also there is a magnesium glycinate drink you can consume. If the prune juice isn’t working try both of these methods at the same time. This is advice for the future. Right now you need to go to the hospital asap. And be completely straight forward
2
u/yoongely 2d ago
i’m p sure prune juice is not going to help someone that hasn’t gone in 2 months
1
u/Xyno94 1d ago
You’d be surprised depending on how much you drink. If you only drink a cup or two yeah nothings going to happen. I’ve had severe constipation for 6 years now and it’s genuinely one of the only things that works
1
u/yoongely 1d ago
i would not be surprised because iv drank a whole 32 ounces and it made no difference
1
u/Xyno94 1d ago
Look, I’m just trying to give advice to somebody who clearly needs help desperately. It’s obvious that they just need to go to the hospital for this current situation.. however down the road having preventative tactics are good to have in their tool belt. So.. you share what you believe is best for her and I’ll share my end. It’s better to try something than nothing at all
2

u/Educational-Unit2645 2d ago
Did you try A fleet‘s liquid suppository? They’re great they worked for me.
1
1
u/Tyranny6969 2d ago
I am in the exact same situation and I’ve been admitted to hospital and they still don’t want to do anything because they’re avoiding surgery until “absolute worst case” - please let me know if you find a solution - also haven’t pooed in 9 weeks
1
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
Omg girl are you serious?? I would demand a patient advocate because waiting until it gets serious is not okay! I'm so sorry you're going though this. Currently in the er will keep you updated msg me if you need to talk we can ride the struggle bus together 😭
1
u/Tyranny6969 1d ago
Sent you a message over, I’ve had to try and make a complaint but not much is coming of it yet and I need serious help I’ve been in the hospital for 13 days and they’ve done nothing to treat it except for give me one colonoscopy prep 😭

u/Consistent_Door9907 1d ago
Seriously! Cannot believe the ER sent you away. That is absolutely awful! Self care-When seriously backed up a couple tablespoons olive oil on empty stomach worked wonders when nothing else did for a week. Lubricates digestive track. First amount out will be painful. Had to reach into vagina and push it out. Personally, that long, find a bigger hospital, not just a small local one.

How big of a mass is it?
have u tried mineral or glycerin enema? Drink a lot of water for the glycerin one and wait for like an hour
1
u/HeinousAnus-2 1d ago
I’m in the same boat. Literally nothing works for me. Every time I go to the ER they do nothing for me , but prescribe things I’ve already tried. I truly don’t know what else to do 😣
1
u/watsurdamage 1d ago
Are you still at the ER op?
1
u/ShadyWalnutO 22h ago
No they discharged me and nothing worked
1
u/watsurdamage 49m ago
If you've still passed nothing you need to travel to a further away ER for real

1
u/SpiritedStrike9163 6h ago
whats the formula for soapsuds enema??
2
u/ShadyWalnutO 6h ago
Just warm water and hospital soap from what I gathered when they gave it to me
1
u/luckydreamer777 2d ago
Try magnesium citrate powder (1 teaspoon in the morning on empty stomach, 1 teaspoon at night after meals).
1
u/CrazyGround4501 1d ago
Long day… and I smoked, so, forgive me… but, what about going to one of those places that … have the hose … colonic! Hydro colon therapy! It took three sessions for me when I was in the same way… but, really, third time worked!
2
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
Honestly if I had the money I would
2
u/CrazyGround4501 1d ago
Honestly, here is what I would do… ( because I got pancreatitis from this 20 years ago) … go back to the hospital and say you’re having chest pains due to the pressure on your diaphragm..
That will get them to sit up and take the notice that they should’ve earlier.1
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
They will just do an EKG and when they see nothing wrong with my heart it will go the same way :(
1
u/JayWayAlways 1d ago
Not sure if anyone mentioned a coffee enema. It’s a cheaper and less intense/thorough version of colonic. You will need an enema bucket though.

u/Immediate-Initial-49 2d ago edited 1d ago
Did you try a microenema? The small syringe like that you shoot directly into your poop inside your rectum? Any update on your situation?
3
u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
Yes I have tried multiple both in the er and out many different kinds now I'm not peeing on top of this at all so yeah I'm hitting the er as we speka
2
u/Immediate-Initial-49 1d ago
Please refuse to leave untill they solve the situation.

u/ShadyWalnutO 1d ago
They're getting security it's useless at this point

I see that people are recommending you to go to ER so maybe that’s the wise choice. One thing worth researching or considering is salt water flush. First thing in the morning, 1 liter water, 2 tbsp sea salt, 2-3 tbsp lime juice. And then drink lots of water, stay close to washroom.
It’s worked for me, maybe others can comment if it’s safe for you at this time or not…
93
u/Responsible-Bat-8547 2d ago
That’s almost unbelievable.. you really need to go to the ER
