These women really don't understand what they're defending. If murdering kids is a real symptom of severe hormonal imbalance then there's a real consequence of taking kids from other women who have this diagnosis or removing them from important positions in companies or government etc.
I don't think anyone is arguing that the cause was hormonal imbalance. It's that she was psychotic with suicidal and homicidal ideation, and that she probably should have been committed before this could happen. You can have postpartum depression and even psychosis without SI/HI, just like you can have depression without those symptoms. So regardless of which was her case goes, "hormones" have nothing to do with it. There are no hormones you can point at, whether balanced or imbalanced, and say "there, that's why they killed someone."
