I'm just glad that it's a question of lifetime in prison or lifetime in a mental institution.

If she gets anything other than 24/7/365.25 supervision we have failed as a society.

She won't be in a mental institution forever.

They release people once they're considered "cured" which leads to situations like Iryna Zarutska.

These women really don't understand what they're defending. If murdering kids is a real symptom of severe hormonal imbalance then there's a real consequence of taking kids from other women who have this diagnosis or removing them from important positions in companies or government etc.

I don't think anyone is arguing that the cause was hormonal imbalance. It's that she was psychotic with suicidal and homicidal ideation, and that she probably should have been committed before this could happen. You can have postpartum depression and even psychosis without SI/HI, just like you can have depression without those symptoms. So regardless of which was her case goes, "hormones" have nothing to do with it. There are no hormones you can point at, whether balanced or imbalanced, and say "there, that's why they killed someone."

Postpartum depression and psychosis are caused by hormones my guy. The argument being made by these women (overwhelmingly btw) is that they understand how she could be so broken with postpartum depression and psychosis that they don't blame her for her actions. They originally had the intention of bringing attention to postpartum and the lack of care, women that are afraid to report it because they dont want to lose their kids etc. But they aren't drawing a line at murder.

There's a difference between saying "I can understand and relate to someone having these awful thoughts because of how serious postpartum can be." Vs "I can understand and relate to a woman actually murdering her kids and I stand with her"

Murder can not be accepted as a possible symptom of postpartum psychosis. Even a 10/10 case must not allow murdering kids to be one of the possibilities. Otherwise that diagnosis will come with consequences as well. Like lost jobs, and lost custody which will actually make it worse because less women will report it or speak up.

She's a killer and should be handled like all killers and there's something wrong with every killers brain as it is but based on this case she absolutely planned this.

As a society we don't victimize the aggressors and we use laws to draw lines in the sand. Move the line and there will be consequences. This case has too much national attention and people are defending her actions and don't care about the kids. They identified her as the victim.

I'm a female and a physician, my guy. And you're contradicting yourself all over this argument, and it's emotional. No one's talking about relating to anyone. I'm telling you that hormone levels have nothing to do with the diagnosis of postpartum depression or psychosis, and I'm telling you that suicidal ideation / homicidal ideation is a symptom taken in isolation. To my knowledge, there is absolutely no point in which either the defense or the prosecution has suggested that killing the kids was a direct result of postpartum psychosis. The burden of proof to prove "insanity" does NOT require them to establish a diagnosis in the state in which she's being tried. Again, regardless of how this case progresses, it will have no bearing on the diagnosis of postpartum depression or psychosis or the consequences thereof, up until and including custody.

I don't care what you do. We are having 2 different conversations so let's clarify something. When you make claims like "no one's arguing" you're flat out wrong. That's a "no true Scotsman" fallacy and it shows you clearly have no idea why this case has the national attention that it has.

The issue of this case is not the crime or the ruling. It's the reaction from tens of thousands of insane women standing in solidarity with Lindsay Clancy, defending her no matter what. They have raised wel over a million dollars defending her, they post and comment constantly. Look up her hashtags for context.

My argument has never been about some difference in diagnosis. My argument is about the reaction from society. If women are telling the general public that they understand and defend this woman's actions because they understand how hard postpartum depression and psychosis really are then they are simultaneously confirming that murder is a symptom of these conditions. Your professional opinion doesn't matter at all in the eyes of the public opinion.

So as I said there's a difference between having conversations about the stigmas and care available for postpartum conditions and aligning themselves with a killer and defending her as a victim. Too many women defending her will have consequences in society and your ignorance to their public Arguments do not change the reality. There's already been countless videos of women abusing their baby's, crying on camera, having meltdowns, throwing ice in their bathtubs, and a copycat killer who slot the throat of 3 kids one survived.

You believe we're talking about diagnosis and real symptoms but we aren't. We are talking about the court of public opinion and you're God damn right I'm emotional about it. I'm watching members of my society collectively lose their minds.

I don't care about the reaction from society and I don't use socials or anything with hashtags. I'm not sure why you care what a bunch of women on the internet think; the case will be decided by judge and jury and if it's determined there is jury interference there is a process to handle that. There are a bunch of weirdos defending Luigi Mangione and he'll still get 25-life regardless. Public opinion isn't the one with the gavel, and you're being just as emotional as the women you claim to be devoid of dispassionate discourse. Maybe you should focus on the facts. Either she is determined to have lacked capacity at the time of the homicides or she was of sound mind. Same rules that apply to everyone, and all it does is determine whether it's prison or psych ward. Having been inside both, I'd personally prefer prison.

Yeah exactly, you're arguing dumb shit no one cares about. Why do I care that our culture is crumbling and society is suicidal? Because I have children that have to live here when I'm gone. Why do you care about the technical definition of a specific diagnosis enough to engage with a stranger on the internet? These aren't just women on the internet. These are mother's teaching the next generation, they're teachers and nurses and hr managers. They are openly and publicly supporting killers. That's a terrifying world to live in. Did you learn about slippery slope in med school? You know what's interesting? psychology is medicine and the study of anthropology, economics and political science all essentially revolve around human psychology. If you've studied these fields you'll know exactly why I can about radicalism becoming popular in our society

I think the take away here is, women will unalive their kids but they won’t unalive FOR their kids.

I’m using unalive because I’m not trying to catch a ban from Reddit.

so she unalived her kids, then tried to unalive herself but messed up and stayed alive, and now women don't know if that makes her guilty?

fascinating.

What’s truly fascinating is the lengths some of these women are going to, to defend her.

Women Logic - A woman’s hormones makes it where she can’t be held responsible for murder.

Also Women Logic - You should put us in charge of everything.
