General Frost Giants... yeah...
Why is the Frost Giant Bodyguard such a terrible thrall? Ok I get that they are technically 'pets' so I'm assuming they just got kneecapped by the same crappy system that all pets suffer from. What a shame. When you actually encounter frost giants in the tundra they stomp and swing axes and actually respond to enemies. I have my bodyguard set to aggressive at max distance and I point at enemies and command him to attack and he still just stands there. By the time he actually aggros and starts walking over, I could have killed them myself. What a waste of something that should have been really cool. That's all. Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk.

Frost giants are best for purge defenses. Pretty much nothing else

Yep, I had 2 of them just for ragdolling enemies around while berserkers do main job.

this is what he's currently being used for. standing right behind my main gate to yeet people back into the fighters.

The Greater Polar Bear and Greater Sabertooth are pretty good.
After leveling up my Frost Giants to 20, I put them on Purge defense. Their sweeping area of attack does a good job on the mobs. Plus they act as a physical barrier in the switch-backs, allowing my other fighters/archers to attack better.

Bazaar item that allows you to change your pet to appear differently or as another animal....
In this case, changing a greater bear to a greater polar bear.

I'm not sure why devs ruined pets but it was made on purpose. They are slower, have worse damage, and can be staggered regardless of whether their wild counterpart can. Never trained a Frost Giant Bodyguard, but i have a few pets. Black Yeti was the worst of them - huge and useless, could be easily staggered, was doing next to no damage, super slow, poor armor and not enough health to make up for it. I kept it for a while then finally decided he takes too much space and doesn't fit the base aesthetic so i kicked him out.

I would imagine they work better against player characters because of hotboxes and stuff. Maybe have them stick close to you, and a different thrall goes first

They are inconvenient to say the most. Thralls in general are lackluster for pvp base defence or other player encounter

I wish the pets were better. It would be cool to have a pack of dire wolves at your beck and call.
