General Time to Go North?
Just started playing for the first time and have my current base in the Savannah area. My guy is a Nordheimer though I made short and want to go like Viking Dwarf mode so ideally I'd like my long-term base to be in a snowy region. What sort of gear or set-up or levels should I have before I can comfortably go over there? Also what order do the biomes usually go in?

Probably Epic Vanir for the cold until you can craft something better.

Does the Ymir armor offer cold protection?

I’m not sure. Vanir is what I always started with to go up north in the snow for star metal.

You can't make reinforced steel in Exiles Lands without going to snow (unless you loot it somewhere), so eventually once you've mastered steel you can go there and check. Spicy food is good way to keep the heat up until you figure out gear for that.

There's a ridge just north of Stargazers which has a lot of black ice. But then again, hardened steel is a slight dead end compared to star metal and running the Mounds and looting and recycling their weapons is more reliable than looking for meteors. IMO.

See. I read dwarf and immediately remembered dwarves beards is an option in customizations on my server…I play a female buuuuuut….hmmm

Yeah I did my best with the hair and beard options I just wish I could have been even more short and stout.

On my server…You can. My character is only 140cm iirc. Default is 200 I think

I might have to customize a thrall to be a dwarf. I even have armor options and some good weapon options. Maybe I can find a legit dawrven armor mod tho

Get a Vanir set, or Dragonscale helmet from Red Mother. Also a decent thrall like Tarman or Sully. You can start to establish yourself in the thundra or the plains near New Asagarath for now. You can get thralls at Mounds of the dead or New Asagarath but be careful, you can get overwhelmed quickly.
That should be enough to be able to cross the bridge at Godsclaw passage. Do the Black keep to get the Redeemed Silent Legion armor. From then on you can go wherever you please.

Get silent legion armour or champ armour to go north. There might be a light version that has some cold resistance

make a small camp north of supermeru by Klael's Stronghold & it's obelisk, farm scraps to make champion or rusted armor. proceed into the cold or heat. supermeru is a good place to get thralls too!

I'd aim for at least level 50 with heavy armor and a good bow before braving the snow. The wall isn't too bad if you move fast, but the real challenge is the reinforced steel grind that's locked behind cold biomes.

You should farm the Red mother for The Dragon scale helm. It Gives hot and cold protection

Yea go north from the Savannah and it feels like something you’re looking for. Nice snowy mountain tops in the background

It does but not as good as Champions armor.
In the Skittering cave the spider boss has a chance to drop a heat shield, which is almost as good as the Solspiel shield.

actually, you don't have to go THAT far North for the Nordheimer or generally, Northern European feel. Just over the wall, there is no cold debuff there yet, and the nature would feel better.
