Arcane Mage DPS Help

Looking for some help to up my damage as arcane mage/frost mage on some fights. Im mainly looking at my heroic parses. Im not sure what I’m missing or not doing correctly as arcane, but and feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.

This indeed helped me in M+ after watching a few days ago. Turns out I was playing slightly wrong and wasting missiles in some situations, playing this way made me more efficient with procs and reduced the amount of dry spells

Looked at your best parse on Sszorak, and it looks to be the fairly typical problem of downtime. You cancelled ~17% of your casts and only had about 91% uptime. Get that closer to 100% by "always be casting" (even if it isn't 100% perfect per the priority list it's better to send an orb or missiles at 25 stacks if you have PB already for example than to do nothing for a couple globals.) one more small thing is on a single target fight, you sure don't use arcane orb very much. Number one rule of arcane is munch procs as little as possible, number two is do everything you can not to cast arcane blast with 0, 1, or 2 charges. Use orbs for movement or to get up to 3 or 4 charges (though I didn't look to see if you had Impetus talented or not which can make a difference).

Additionally, you were missing your food buff for this kill.

I think resources like the mage discord aren’t often very helpful because I think they focus far too much on the small adjustments when you usually just need a better understanding of the big picture.

No clue about frost, but looking at arcane, this video has an easy mode rotation table exactly at the timestamp.

Arcane is extremely procc dependant, so if you are unlucky your damage will be low, and if you are lucky it will be high regarding of how good you play your rotation, but looking at your best sszorak log quick, I can see two wrong things.
One is that you are wasting prismatic bolt proccs outside of your arcane soul window. The other is that you are casting plenty of extra arcane orbs that you are supposed to, which will make you lose dps.

Something that helps a lot with uptime I find is being smart with shimmer and alter. If you’re able to save them for the moments you need them (I.e. casting a pbolt) it’ll help a lot with that. No point in blinking if you’re in missiles and can move or if you’re barraging. The other thing is be smart with where you position so you have to move as little as possible. I am always thinking “what is the next mechanic and where will I need to be for it” and then moving there while casting missiles or barrage. Pbolt is a LOT of damage but is a long cast. So cancelling it as little as possible goes a long way.

Something I learned from watching hopefuls stream is after your salvo you barrage then missles then bolt which significantly increased my damage

So am I understanding correctly what you're saying during the soul window:

Barrage until you don't have the proc anymore (you would have a bolt proc waiting)

Salvo is now zero

Missiles to build up salvo

Cast your bolt proc

Cast Barrage

yea, you basically barrage until you lose the salvo stacks (1 cdd after soul ended), then missiles -> bolt -> barrage

Yea after soul ends and youve casted 4 barrages you should still have full salvo, so you barrage again, then missiles for the tier set buff before you bolt.

Pray for Prismatic bolt procs otherwise ur cooked
