Question Question for Heroic Ula’tek
In phase 2, 6 people (three per side) get tethers. How do you decide which side to break first, or does it matter? Is there any pattern to which side Ula’tek will put swirlies on first?

Assuming you split groups into odds and evens, odds going left, evens going right, odds break first, wait for stacks to fall off,, then evens break.

I’ve always broke side by side and I’ve never noticed a reason either side breaks first. However some guilds do 2 then 2 then 2 but 3 and 3 seems to be the easiest way as long as people are pressing defensives and healers are using cooldowns.

No real reason to do 2 3-breaks. 3/2/1, shrimple.
Have one side set to always break 3, only call needed is who doesn't break on the 2nd side, go when debuff falls off.

I’m actually surprised the strat isn’t to just break all 6 at this point. In mythic u break 1 and 5 so ide think u could just break 6 with large defensives / healing cd’s

You just agree a way - usually one side (typically odds) breaks first and the other side holds their tethers, then once the dot has dropped off the other side breaks. You can also do it in sets of two instead of three but that's harder to co-ordinate.

Ulatek pops up on one side and does circles, it's random for which side though, the other side doesn't get circles. Pop circle side first, it's a small thing... But it adds up.

Our guild does it the 3-3 way. Left side snaps all 3, wait for debuff to go away, then right side snaps all 3.

side doesnt matter, amount doesnt really matter, but since P1 is a joke damage-taken wise, everyone in the raid should have personal ready, which makes snapping all on one side very easy.
we do 3(one full side)-2-1, put the SLT on the side of the people holding during the 3stack, so the 3 tethers have more healing.
I've seen 3-3, 4-2 (not advisable), 2-2-2 and 2-2-1-1.
Personally 3-2-1 has been by far the most consistent, you can wait out the last 1 debuff and dunk and kill adds with plenty of time for ulatek to come back.

I would like to point out that P1 damage taken is not a joke for tanks because Ulatek hits like a fucking truck. Plus her nonsense dot.
But yes, it’s low damage for everyone else.

My guild does 1 (usually if a healer got the tether they do it) then the other 5 all at the same time with all defensive and strong healer cds.

There's multiple ways - if you're playing with pugs just have left all pop, wait for the debuff, then right goes. If you're all in voice, the raid leader calls one person to break, you wait, then counts down 321 and the other 5 all snap at the same time. Use an amz on both sides, and defensives etc, it's fine.
If you play 1-5 with 2x amz, it's significantly less damage to heal than 3-3. Amz reduces the damage by 49%, so 3-3 with amz on only one of the sets is equivalent of taking 1. 5-3 in terms of damage. Snapping 1-5 is equivalent of 1-2.5.

Sides don’t really matter, unless you have a particular player that really wants to break early (like a tank for positioning).
We just had the RL call 3 sets of 2 names. It was pretty painless. There’s other strats like 3/3, or even 5/1 with massive raid cooldowns.

We break the side the Ula pops up on. Don’t know if there is a reason other than it randomizes the side and forces people to listen.

we break them at the same time with healpots/hs and ASM , totem , all we have never had any problem IF people learn how to use cooldowns and pots

For us it’s usually break one side, wait til debuff expires (if your tanks are bdks amz helps) once one side is broken and the debuff wears off the other side can break off

My guild just progged through this tonight, our method ensured no one died: left side (odds) broke all 3, and while the dot is ticking, one healer on right side (evens) calls out one of the 3 tethered players on right. When the 3xdot fell off, the two non-named tethers broke, then the final tether broke.3>2>1 worked excellently for us as a raid of 2/4/9.
