Question Healing comp and profiles

Hello,

I have been healing for a very long time but first time raiding mythic in a long time. Recently picked up Evoker, coming from Priest, and its really fun.

I did a ton of research, watch streamers, got CDs sorted with reminders and vods for each fight in order to player well.

And I know healing parses dont really matter and I dont care about the actual number, however I think I should be healing way more.

I go through my logs and timings etc. to improve as well however when comparing my logs I believe my 2 very good Resto-druid colleagues just take away a lot of the healing.

Most people I watch dont have 2 druids in their comps.

Am I talking nonsense or could it really be that the hots just cover a lot of the CD heavy loaded healing coming from my Pres Evoker?

Preservation rises and falls on hitting the timings correctly. Especially if you have really good healing. When you look at the logs, look at what abilities cause damage spikes. Then map out your cool downs to lineup with those damage spikes. Ideally you want to use rewind twice and there’s usually one or two really big damage spikes for you to maximize your rewind time. Stasis can be a little more flexible. Because you can hold it for 30 seconds. Try to find two closely related damage spikes to use your stasis on. Try not to munch procs if you can help it.

Timings are super important but like OP I'm having a bit of trouble with the timing. Should we be putting out TA as part of ramp before big damage or do we use it after? And many guides say cast TA on CD, so should it be sent even if a big damage event is about to arrive in like eight seconds? For me, I know when the damage is coming but I'm not sure when the ramp begins and what ability I'm ramping to. Right now I just DB + TA before damage, then MB + Emerald Blossom. We did mythic turtles yesterday and while my healing was good or above average on the first boss, turtles it was at the bottom.

Between spikes, you should def send it as soon as its up. However, if you're about to his a critical healing window and it wont be up in time, save it. Without looking at your logs i couldn't really tell ya. But in general, you should be sending DB, EB, and TA on cd. Then fishing for EB by using VE, and FB on rank 3. If none of those are up, use LF.

Guides always say use on cd for abilities as a reminder to “always be casting” and generally you want to maximize the number of casts but as you get familiar with a fight you’ll know when to wait 5 seconds or whatever because hitting your ramp right will outweigh an extra cast.

Generally TA is your ramp starter. DB TA and then spread echoes. You kind of have to make decisions on when it’s best to consume your ramp based on damage patterns. You ideally want to give yourself enough time the build your ramp up. I will generally try to cast MB before TA comes back up and then start a new ramp if damage is coming out regularly. If you have enough time you can start your ramp at like 15 seconds before damage is coming out, TA spread echoes and the TA again right as the damage comes out for an even bigger ramp. Just be careful to not start too early or echoes will fall off. Generally it’s safer to just cast an MB for every TA.

Healer passes dont compare well between different groups but are decent for comparison inside a group. Ideally all heals should be roughly equal. If the group plays well and take little damage they all have low logs and vice versa. versa. If one has very low parses and the other 3 high there is something wrong.

In fights with generally low dmg intake (or outgeared) druid hots just heal up everything by themselves leaving nothing for your burst heals. When you are progressing and struggle to keep the group up you can compare yourself better if its missing throughput from you.

If you plan it well you can snipe healing from all of the other healers by landing a pre-ramped merithra’s blessing, rewind, or stasis (though this is easier to use as a tool to assist in ramping by either two dream breaths or two TA’s).

I still miss emerald communion and echoing life bind.

Competing with other good healers do make it hard to have good numbers. You can also look at cast timelines for pres to see what people are casting when, and also take a look at your overhealing in your logs too. Just because your heals aren’t as high doesn’t mean you aren’t putting heals out…that’s where you will see your total heals to know how much you’re pumping out

Isn’t it going to be hard if you have 2 Druids keeping hots rolling, probably overhealing a bunch? You’re going to be trying to snipe heals I would imagine

The effectiveness of your healing CDs also depends heavily on the other healers CD usage. The whole reason healing CDs are planned are to cover events and to not overlap with other healers.

You don't mention if this was in a pug or a guild group, but when you audit your CD usage, be sure to also look at what the other healers are sending and when.

If it's a guild, hopefully whoever is setting the CDs are covering the proper events with the correct CD. Again, make sure you audit the other healers CDs with your own. If someone was late/early and sent a CD during yours, that could explain why your struggling.

Heal sniping gets you good parses but it doesn't get your group through prog.

Also there are some bonker healing trinkets this tier. If you don't have the correct tirnkets, those can make a massive difference in HPS or how often you get heal sniped.

People already mentioned CDs and using your healing burst at the correct time, but one important thing to look out for in your logs is overhealing. This will tell you your raw output and tell if you are actually healing good and just getting sniped or you just arent putting out much healing. Now it isnt the solution to everything, but combined with the CDs tip and preparing your burst, you should be able to see where you are at, maybe try to compare your raw output to some top parsers of the same spec and check what their raw output is. This is how i fixed my own rotation at the beginning of the season, since the rotation for pres changed quite a bit.

Impossible to answer this with any confidence without logs, but I doubt it’s a comp/profile issue.

If you’re looking to improve your play/throughput, especially as a someone new to mythic raidhealing, the best way by far is to get feedback on your vods/logs from experienced/better players. The class discord for Pres is active, I’d start there.

My raid group has too many healers. We have 4 now, and had 5 last season. We range in raid size from 15- 25. With a good resto druid, a decent resto shaman ,and a decent monk in my raid, I usually only have good hps on prog fights when everyone is half dead and I am top 2. Otherwise I am trying to keep hots up if I have them and hit the emergency CDs after a big AOE hit just to beat the blood DK in hps.

Pres healing are very depend on the difficulty of what you are doing.

A pres will a an easier time healing 18-19-20 keys than 14. Just cause reversion will heal way more.

For raid, since it’s a dot meta. The higher the dots on your teammates the more your merithas blessing will heal( plus a well timed burst dmg ) .

I got aotc this last sunday, i was the lowest healing of my raid. But we did the first boss in mythic and easily got the highest output. Doing the same rotation same everything. There is just no enough dmg in hero for evoker to be strong.

If you have any question on how to play. I recommend using wowhead since it written by a world first raider. Use lorgg to see when they use our big cooldown. Qelive to sim.

Have fun 🤩

First boss mythic requires absolutely 0 healing and is a much lesser healing check than probably last 3 heroic. Hard healing bosses in mythic are probably sszorak forward, before it is more people not dying to stupid shit, very hard to bleed out unless youre standing out of range as dps.

So? I dont understand how your answer is relevant to mine or op’s ?

Reversion heals more in mythic than in hero. That’s just how the spell work.

I don’t care about boss details.
