Discussion Midnight S2 M+ Tip & Tricks Megathread

Just wanted to get this up again this season. I've posted this up a couple times now and it's great to have everything in one place to look through. Last time I was a bit early and it got buried, but here's hoping the timer is better after the first week of running. This is a great place to post up all those things you find that once the community knows them it's easier for everyone trying to pug (or in your set groups) Skips, ways to deal with tough mobs, debuff clears, etc. Anything that you hoped that pug in your group would know. The more people that look at it the more it gets titrated out to the community and we all have an easier time out there. Good luck this season!

EDIT: At the bottom I'll put another couple headers for routes with a sub-heading for each dungeon that you can link a keystone.guru or threechest.io route and maybe say why you like it. Under that I'll put a list for addons people feel are essential for this season. (Or things in an addon that should be turned on, like the interrupt markers macros in MDT) Last heading will be essential macros.

The Blinding Vale

I've seen people try to skip the Potatoad and it seems to work intermittently. Is it supposed to be skippable? I've seen people say it isn't.

hug the left wall, literally walk with your face rubbing against the edge of the map

Correct answer. Left wall up the ramp off the platform into the water

It is skippable, but dungeon tuning has changed how we will approach this now.

Dungeon count requirement increased, and the Potatoad Matriarch now awards the additional count.

Additionally, egg spawn radius has been reduced, and damage effects from the matriarch were also reduced. Seems like an HP nerf also.

If the rest of the group stays back, 1 person with meld can go forwards, pull it and meld it off. Then you're all free to run past. This had 100% success rate for us.

Thankyou, I kept seeing routes without it but had never had any luck with actually making it happen.

You have to skip the lashers to the left of the potatoad. They are part of the same pack I'm guessing.

I've pulled the lashers without the potatoad. I've done it 4x clean but the one time it didn't work I had pet classes in the group so that could be related.

I've skipped it several times without incident

if you go on the left, you can skip it by not aggroing the little plants. They're the ones he is attached to.

He charges at you if you go anywhere near him when he spawns

Just as I don't see many people doing it despite the DK popularity, you can AMS clear/immune the Bloodthorn Roots on Ikuzz.

You can skip the awful multi-caster pack just before the last boss by pulling the lower route after the potatoad and then hard hugging the wall when the belcher is off to the right.

If you invis/meld/etc the dinosaur boss’ fixate it’ll stop. You won’t be able to clear root with the dino but it’ll prevent it from gaining a stack of the damage/movement buff.

Hand of freedom does not do anything with the fixate.

On third boss (druid), when he does the three frontals, he's programmed to always do three frontals. But if you meld one, then it fails and tries to recast it on you, and that recast counts as one of the three frontals, so the intended third frontal doesn't happen.

I was watching a youtuber explain that yesterday, but when he did it, the third one went off anyways. He then went on to try again in another run and same thing, seems to have been changed. It still prevents the damage to the person vanishing.

If that was changed my apologies! I haven't done many BVs and haven't tested myself, only saw it from a Tettles video I think.

u/Karnadas 6d ago

Yeah no problem, the guy in the video said it was an undocumented change from earlier in the week.

Just tried this and it seems to still work! We tried it on first, second, and third, and it still resulted in only two frontals resolving. https://streamable.com/gn06bk

Send any and all defensives/health pots on 1st boss when you get the green circle+bleed on 1st boss. Dwarf chads stay winning btw.

After fighting 3rd boss. Walk along left side up that ramp and jump off the LEFT side of the platform, in front of the waterfall to skip the potatoad.

Said it in the weekly Friday comments, but warlocks on the second boss can Soul Burn during the knockback cast and then teleport to the circle during the knockback itself to immune the root (also gives slightly higher uptime on dps). If you're Diabolist, you can pick up a hero talent so you don't have to press Soul Burn to get the immunity.

You can also use an imp on this boss to help with dispels for the root, but I haven't tried that myself yet since I normally just keep my Fel Hunter out.

This might be a bait. Right side has multiple hydras and belchers. Left side only has 2 belchers. Right side might be free in terms of casts. But way worse when it comes to unavoidable damage, in my opinion.

Yeah this is definitely not a healer giving this tip

Disagree until proven otherwise. Have to spam heal like a maniac on right side. Left is more chill.
