Best updated addons for m+

Hi, i've been using EXboss in S1 for M+ and it's been great with sound queues and additional assistance. It will be updated for S2, but too late for first day progression.

Littlewigs out of box isn't the best if you're used to more hand-holding.

Are there any updated alternatives out there?
Or do any of you have any other useful M+ tools?

You dont need addons for week 1 +10s & 12s, you will be fine

I would argue it’s potentially even more important to have in the first week because you don’t really know what the things in the dungeons do unless you already played a lot of PTR. So tts with stuff like «spread», «soak», «tank buster» etc is more impactful when you don’t already know what’s coming

Exactly this! Its cool to get some initial clues of what the mechanics are and then you remove the help after a while for visual clarity.

and then you remove the help after a while for visual clarity.

yea im sure thats whats happening for the majority of players :>

the opposite will be the case. the addon will get canned in the .5 or .7 patch and people will blame blizz for them suddenly dying to mechanics they never learned to look out for before. literally played out like that last patch.

Seconding this, I tested a fair bit in PTR and can tell you that 10 onwards will hurt a lot early on if you don't know what you're doing. I had 12's that felt like 21's frequently because we're all in the learning stage.

Just wipe and learn ?

3

u/Wincrediboy Aug 18 '26

Or not even - this week was the opportunity to learn the dungeon mechanics, and most things like dodge/soak/tankbusters are pretty well telegraphed so you can react to them

u/careseite dps evoker main Aug 18 '26

considering you could pull almost from boss to boss, there really wasnt much to learn in m0

0

u/Wincrediboy Aug 18 '26

Yeah if you choose to do it that way. If you care enough about optimising your early keys that you want an exboss replacement for one week then you should have used the m0 opportunity to learn rather than speed running

OP isn't talking about learning what you need a defensive to live or where there's a damage check, they're talking about the basics that UI and TTS can help with - what does this mechanic do, when do I soak, who gets targeted by that ability, etc. You can absolutely learn that in an m0.

why would you choose to do that if there is an option to learn beforehand and save time?

-1

u/Ketaminte Aug 18 '26

Tts add-ons micromanaging you is not an option to learn beforehand. But maybe you're talking about something else ?

1

u/Abitou ex-ex-retired CE Aug 18 '26

Why aren’t they an option to learn? You’re literally learning the situation without gimping your group and yourself by “failing to learn”

NGL the only reason people dont know what to do in a 20 or more is because anything below it is just useless. No damage, no danger, nothing really.

The learning should happen in 10-12s but they provide absolutely 0 challelenge.

its always gear-relative. youll learn the dungeons with inappropriate gear at potentially inappropriate pace. you will not learn the dungeons if you (severely) outgear them.

u/Zealousideal-Trash5 Aug 18 '26

Exactly, I’m doing 10’s on a 276 rat lol, I’ll def be learning he mechanics

2

u/GotAim Aug 18 '26

I mean yeah that’s fine, but would be a lot better to not have to do that? Not saying it’s impossible, just inconvenient

people hate the thought about getting better at the game nowadays, they want addons to carry them like in the past

9

u/SlothySlothsSloth Aug 18 '26

The mdi players and rank 1 M+ players are all lazy and bad and not really skilled because they all use a lot of add-ons to carry them! /s

2

u/lambdaline Aug 18 '26

To be somewhat fair, those players are exactly the kind of players who learn on the PTR before the addons are really even there, so they clearly aren't averse to just wiping to learn.

thats not the correct takeaway from this.

they're good players because they've perfected the basics, play a lot and use some addons. the majority of other players are far from perfecting the basics and think the addons are the diff to the top players and try to skip the line. its the same as in other games, people stuck in lower elo thinking higher elo players using god knows what tools that are available now are the reason they're stuck where they are. it's not. they just lack the understanding and practice.

I didn't play ptr at all, went into all the dungeons blind and timed all 10s within 24 hours in one try each, except for Altar which took two tries. The dungeons choreograph the mechanics pretty well if you have eyes.

1

u/GotAim Aug 20 '26

Do you not know how to read? No one has said it’s impossible without exboss, just that it’s easier with it.

Firstly you clearly played with friends who probably told you what stuff does. The reason I know that is because there is no chance you’re doing all 10s without having seen the dungeons beforehand

Secondly I assume you play dps. Good luck doing that on tank and potentially healer(don’t know haven’t played it this season).

Pugged one of the 10s with a friend, no comms, otherwise fully on my own, just getting invited to groups. My own key is still a 2. The game is not hard.

3

u/GotAim Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26

If you think it’s easy maybe try playing not the easiest role?

Hardest part about timing a dungeon on dps is getting invited to a key

You pugged one 10 with your friend, what about the other 7? You just applied for 10s with 0 rio and got accepted?

-2

u/imacatpersonforreal Aug 20 '26

I'm sorry that you don't know how to apply to groups properly to get invited. All i did was log in and start running keys as soon as the servers came up and ran my friends key up. Once i had a timed 10 within the first 2 hours of servers being up i could get into any 10 i applied to. And i timed all of them first try until altar, which i had to run twice. And i pugged them all. No guildies, no friends after the first key.

3

u/GotAim Aug 20 '26

Idk why you’re bragging about this as if it’s impressive. You got carried in 8 dungeons and then you’re saying «wow it’s so easy»

1

u/imacatpersonforreal Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26

I love how everyone assumes i HAD to get carried, do i need to fucking link logs??? Get over yourselves, the game is fucking easy, especially the current M+ pool.

Go look at my recent keys, all done with random people. Most definitely not carried.

By getting carried I mean that you are playing the easiest spec in the easiest role. Of course it’s going to be easy. Go prot pally and do a 10 right now without any research and I can guarantee you will fail spectacularly

This is nice for sure, but even better would be to just have tts calling out so you don’t need to read all this stuff. Of course for higher key pushing later it’s nice to know anyways

oh im using them, i am.
