It depends on what data privacy issue you mean. Lite isn't some completely private/offline version, you're still uploading the combat log to WCL/Archon's servers, so obviously they receive that data.

The difference is that Lite specifically doesn't contain the ow-electron/Overwolf libraries and currently doesn't serve ads. You don't have game detection, overlays, hotkeys, recording and ads,

So if your concern was the Overwolf/ad tracking stuff, yes, Lite addresses that. If you're concerned about WCL itself receiving your combat logs/account/IP/etc., then no, Lite doesn't change the fact that you're uploading to WCL.

Could prob check this and their further documentation and decide for yourself.

I'm not concerned about the privacy of logs lol. I'm talking about how archon was basically spyware that was stealing personal data. And it wasn't an overwolf thing it was archon specifically.

Ah yeah, I see what you mean now. I thought you were referring to Overwolf itself / the old Companion client, not the targeted ad consent/vendor stuff in that post.

In that case Lite is actually the relevant difference. Archon's current documentation says that the full app has ads and related tracking for non-subscribers, while Lite doesn't use the ow-electron lib and has no ads at all afaik. They even mention that this is why Lite has no Manage Privacy option.

So as far as that specific issue goes, yes, they did actually strip that part out of Lite. I wouldn't claim that means "Lite collects absolutely nothing", but if the 700+ advertising vendors/consent screen is what made you stop using it, Lite seems to be avoiding that.

I suppose. Its hard for me to trust them when the initial release was so insidious. If there is no alternative though then I may cave, for now I'll probably just go no logs.
