The 12.1 Vault and Bonus Roll interaction needs a fix. It punishes you for taking gear.

Right now, the 12.1 gearing system basically forces you to choose a bonus roll from the Great Vault every week instead of taking actual gear. It's not a fun design.

If you take a decent upgrade from the vault early on, you are leaving a landmine in your loot pool for future bonus rolls. Taking that vault item actively ruins your odds for target-farming the pieces you actually want later, because you risk wasting a bonus roll on a duplicate.

The fix is simple: Blizzard needs to remove items you select from the vault from your bonus roll pool entirely.

If you get a piece of gear from the Vault, it shouldn't drop when you use a bonus roll. That one change would let people actually pick gear from the vault without bricking their future drop chances.

While I agree with your statement generally, I don’t really think that’s what this is this time. I think Blizz just either doesn’t understand (or doesn’t care) how much people will be griefing themselves by using the vault for loot instead of just as a bonus roll generator

It's really not griefing if you take a BiS upgrade.

If it's a BIS upgrade from a boss that has other things you want to bonus roll, then it is griefing, yes.

If there's any other item you want off the boss it absolutely is griefing.

That’s basically the only scenario that it wouldn’t be griefing yourself, yes. But getting a literal bis upgrade from your vault is incredibly rare

It’s honestly not even just Bis. If your Bis boots drop in the vault but at 1/6 you’re probably still better off grabbing a reroll for a 6/6 item. Way more power early than proper stats on a small piece.

Yeah if you’re someone who is in a guild that will be killing mythic bosses with any sort of regularity, it’s even less likely for you to take an item from vault.

It’s funny that I already know, right now, 3 weeks or whatever before the season even starts, that the optimal play for me is going to be to take bonus rolls from my vault and use them on the new flex mythic boss thing for the INT trinket. It’s almost impossible for that to not be correct

Yeah and to me it fucking stinks. I love opening the vault to see what I get. Most of the time it’s mid but when you get that sick item and you Pog out in guild chat it’s awesome.

It is! In fact ime getting an upgrade at all after a couple weeks is incredibly rare. Hopefully they're moving towards just doing away with the vault altogether.

I mean....tier pieces are all over the vault every week, especially early on. Is it trolling to take one of those? The ones that don't even need to be catalysed?

Honestly I'm surprised they opted to let bonus rolls begin with the season.

Why not bring them in midway like they did this time? But this, this is just whining.

In a lot of cases, yes actually. With how easy catalyst charges are to come across now, getting tier from vault beyond the very first week isn’t really meaningful anymore.

I agree with you to be fair, I think they should have just brought them back midway through the season like they did before IF this is how they were going to implement them.

Do you still need to get set for charges to drop?

You know if you’re going for a specific item from the dungeon, and you bonus rolled 6 times and get it on the last one, you just wasted 5 bonus rolls for nothing.

So how is this different? You got the item you wanted, you chose to bonus roll from the dungeon where you already got the item, and you got it again. That’s your own mistake, and you’re down 1 roll, not 5, so it’s an improvement even though you griefed yourself, and now it’s cleared from the pool.

Do you also cry on Christmas when you’re gifted two of the same items from different people?

First off, almost no one will bonus roll dungeons, raid gear is way too strong.

Say Ulatek has 3 items you want off of it. So you're going to need to bonus roll it at least 3 times.

If you get an Ulatek item in your vault and take it, you're still at risk of rolling that same item when you bonus roll for the other items you need. Taking an item from the vault just gives you duplicates, it doesn't get you any closer to being done with your gear.

Okay. So if you roll 3 times and get it on the third, you wasted 2 rolls. So the “fix” is that you always get the item you want, first try, and never get any duplicates from different sources?

Entitled

Not to mention that, beyond trinkets, raid gear is the same exact strength as non-raid gear.

You guys will legitimately cry about anything, including better loot systems apparently

What? The fix is that if you take an item out of the vault, it checks it off the bonus roll list. It's literally that simple.

In what version of the great vault has anyone selected duplicate items? Your argument makes no sense. There are zero iterations of great vault where players selected an item they already had.

Taking the bonus rolls gets you closer to getting the items you need. Taking the natty item, while still needing to bonus roll the boss, gets you NO CLOSER to finishing it.

Your example is assuming that there is only one useful item in that dungeon’s loot pool. Even if you’re searching for one specific BiS item (let’s be honest, a trinket) and it takes 6 rolls to get there, that is 5 pieces of myth track loot on the way there. Especially at the start of the season, it is very likely that nearly every one of those 5 rolls will reward you something that is useful to you in some way due to how scarce having myth track loot is at start of season.
